~Chapter 8~

September 20th, 2023: 1:10 PM,

Seungmin had sent a text to Jeongin when he left the hospital, telling him not to bother picking him up because he was taking the bus. Jeongin, of course, argued against it, insisting that he'd leave his class right now to get him. And it was probably true; Jeongin was really always there for him, even at times when he didn't want him to be.

However, Seungmin really needed to be alone, away from Jeongin's intemperate questions and Chan's addictive and warming personality. He just needed to be alone with his thoughts.

Why does he like him so much? What is it about him that keeps drawing him closer? What is that unfamiliar familiar feeling he gets when he's around him that makes him stay on his mind relentlessly, even when they're not together?? Maybe it was all made up in his mind, but it doesn't change how he feels about him. Something he now couldn't even try to deny, even if he wanted to.

He let out a frustrated cry as he sat down on the bus stop bench and waited. He truly hated this feeling of wanting someone so badly it hurts. How, after just barely two weeks, could he fall for a guy that easily...so suddenly? Whether it was a crush, mere attraction, or possibly love—whatever it was called—he thought it was stupid and a total bitch.

By the time he arrived at school, there were only about 15 minutes left before his class started. He walked in sluggishly, paying no mind to the three students who were already in the room. He was so exhausted from crying and having his mind overwhelmingly clouded with thoughts of the older. He went to his regular seat and settled into the chair before immediately lowering his head to the desk. He let out a deep sigh, sinking into the slight feeling of relief as he waited for the lecture to begin.

It was only about a minute before Jeongin joined him, clearly out of breath and panting. He aggressively slammed down his bag to let Seungmin know of his existence, and then took the seat beside him. Seungmin rolled his eyes, peering over at him, letting out a small chuckle as he saw Jeongin's rapidly rising chest paired with the intensity of his gaze.

"What, did you run across the entire school??" Seungmin joked playfully as he turned his head to Jeongin.

"Something happened, didn't it??" Jeongin asked, tilting his head at him; he could always tell when something was wrong.

"God, do you ever not worry about me??"

"Ha, worry about you? As if!! I couldn't care less about what happens to you," Jeongin scoffed, crossing his arms across his chest as he turned to face the board. Seungmin laughed as he caught the way Jeongin side-eyed him, seemingly expecting a reaction from him that he refused to give. Instead, he buried his face back into his arms and ignored him.

Jeongin sucked his teeth as he dramatically pulled his arms from his chest and dropped them to the desk. He angrily narrowed his eyes at the other before he roughly poked Seungmin's side with annoyance.

"Ow fuck!!" Seungmin yelled as he sprang up from the desk and looked at him, confused. "Oh my god, nothing happened," he added once he saw the serious look on Jeongin's face. "Really!" Seungmin continued desperately as Jeongin didn't let up, praying he sounded somewhat convincing because he wasn't ready to talk about it yet.

"Like you'd even tell me if something did happen," Jeongin sighed with a small laugh, believing him as he turned to his bag and pulled out his textbook.

"Yeah, exactly," Seungmin chuckled, mirroring him as he reached for his history book. "Did you do the homework??"

"Hm, let's see, do my history homework or spend the weekend with Yunhee??" he quipped with a slight smirk as he flashed him a wink.
