─── ⋆⋅🎀⋅⋆ "PLEASE JUST EAT IT" EVANGELINE PLEADED. Her blue eyes were glassy, and her low voice shook in a child-like fashion. As if she were on the brink of breaking down into a fit of tears.
"No"! Emilia grumbled stubbornly. She turned away from the spoon her sister held out. The child crossed her arms tightly, her lip flailing out in a pout. "I don't want to".
"Emilia I don't care, you haven't eaten all day-".
"And I won't" she grumbled out in her childish tantrum "Not until dad comes home".
Evangeline felt herself pause. Goosebumps kissed her tiny arms as her hand began to shake. Slowly, she moved the spoon back into the bowl of noodles.
"He said he'd come home today, so I'm not eating until he comes back like he said," she said fiercely, not meeting her older sister's eye.
"I know you miss him" her voice grew gentle "I do too but you know his work runs late, sometimes he can't make it home when he says, you still have to eat" she continued to plead rubbing her drowsy eyes. The teenager looked like crap. Deep black circles resided under her eyes as if she hadn't got a blink of sleep and her thick raven hair was tied back loosely, strands of hair spilling out her hair tie in a rouge uncaring look.
"What about mom" she growled "when are her and Aaron coming home".
"I don't know, Emi".
"Well I won't eat until they come" she stomped her foot down "no I won't, I refuse" tears gleaming in her chocolate eyes. "I want my mom and dad".
Evangeline let out a harsh huff of frustration. "Well they're not coming, so eat your damn food" her voice rose without her consent.
"No"! Emilia yelled back just as loud, the six year old experiencing an unknown hot and achy emotion ball in her chest. "I want my parents".
"Dad is working" she pushed back the strands of hair that fell in front of her face. "And mom and Aaron are-".
"Are what" her voice cut through the air once more sharp and jagged "you never exactly tell me where they are".
"They're on a trip okay, and I don't know when they'll be home".
"You're a liar"!
"I am not"! The thirteen year olds voice rose in anger once more.
Emilia balled her fist into a tight ball. "Yeah you are! Why wouldn't they take us if they were on a trip".
"I don't know, they didn't want us there"!
"Liar"! Her sister's voice shook. Her lip wobbled once more. Her sister had to be lying! The alternative being her mother truly didn't love her as much as she thought. Just as the school kids often taunted.
