The rain fell in soft thuds against the van's window. Evangeline Clarke sat in the backseat fiddling with one of her daggers as Sam sat in the passenger seat, computer in his lap.

Though they weren't driving around in the impala as they typically would, Evangeline felt a warm sensation at the idea of the new hunt. It gave a sense of normality she had missed stuck up in Bobby's house.

“You've gotta be kidding me. A killer clown” Dean stressed.

“Straight out of a Stephen King novel” Evangeline muttered, shivering in distaste.

“That about sums it up, He left the daughter unharmed and killed the parents. Ripped them to pieces, actually”.

“And this family was at some carnival that night”? Dean question.

“Right, right. The, uh, Cooper Carnivals” Sam reaffirmed.

The carnival occasionally came to her town when she was a child. One of her favorite memories was years ago. She had been around seven, and her father and mother had taken her alongside her older brother. Her very pregnant mother had left ten minutes after their arrival after a nausea spell, her father by her side.

It left the unlikely pair of the two Clarke siblings who were practically strangers alone while their parents waited in the car.

Despite the starting tension, it had been one of Evangeline's fondest memories and the one and only time her brother and her had come to the mutual agreement to tolerate one another. In fact, the two had actually enjoyed each other's company, and for a small moment, it was like they were actually a family.

The memory brought a bitter taste to Evangeline's tongue. No matter how much she desired to have love between her brother, like Sam and Dean did each other, she knew that that one day of peace between the two was exactly that, one day.

“So how do you know we're not dealing with some psycho carnie in a clown suit”?

“I was wondering the same thing” she murmured.

“Well, the cops have no viable leads, and all the employees were tearing down shop. Alibis all around. Plus, this girl said she saw a clown vanish into thin air. Cops are saying trauma, of course”.

“Well, I know what you're thinking, Sam. Why did it have to be clowns”? Dean's lips pried up into a smile like a kid who had just been handed a bag of candy.

“Oh, give me a break”.

Evangeline perked up in her seat “what! no way” her head whipped to Sam “your afraid of clowns”!

Sam let out a sharp exhale, his cheeks turning a rosey red.

“Yup” Dean chuckled.

“No way,” Evangeline giggled.
