Jiyoo stood alone on the balcony, high above the city, the wind gently tousling her hair. The view stretched endlessly before her, the skyline of Seoul sprawling in every direction, a mosaic of towering buildings, bustling streets, and the soft glow of the setting sun that painted the sky with hues of orange and pink.
It was one of the highest skyscrapers in the city, and the world below felt like a distant hum, far removed from the whirlwind of her thoughts.
She had always found solace in the sky. There was something comforting about it, about knowing that it was vast and endless, just like the love she'd felt growing up, even if she had lost pieces of it along the way. And today, as she looked up at the clouds drifting lazily across the horizon, Jiyoo felt an overwhelming sense of peace.
It had been a journey. A long one, filled with moments of hurt, but also so much love and growth. And now, as she stood here, a sense of closure wrapped around her heart, she could finally feel her mother's presence again. She knew, without a doubt, that her mother was watching, somewhere, high up in the sky.
In her hands, Jiyoo clutched a small, white balloon, its string light in her grasp. It was a symbol of release, of letting go. She had written a letter to her mother, something she had wanted to do for years but had never quite found the courage to. The letter was her way of sharing everything, of telling her mother what had happened, what had changed, and how life had carried on—how it was still going on, even without her.
With a deep breath, Jiyoo let the balloon go, watching it float upward, as if it were a message carried directly to her mother. She tied the letter carefully to the string before releasing it, watching as it bobbed in the breeze.
The words she had written had poured from her heart, raw and honest, capturing everything she needed to say.
Dear Mom,
It feels strange, writing to you like this, knowing you can't read the words in the way you once did. But maybe, somehow, you will still hear them.
I want you to know that we're doing okay. Everyone's finding their way, even after everything. Chanyeol is going to be a father. Can you believe it? I never imagined it would be so soon. He's so excited, and I know you would have been too. It's a girl, Mom. A little girl. We're naming her after you, just like you always wanted. She'll grow up knowing about you—about the love you gave us.
Jimin is with Jungkook now. I guess they were together all this time, but they never told anyone. It's funny, isn't it? We always thought we knew everything, but sometimes we're all just trying to figure it out. Sunghoon is with Sunoo too. I can see them together now, and it just makes sense. And Jay... well, Jay's still Jay. But I think he's starting to follow his heart more now. He's learning, just like the rest of us.
And then there's Jiwoo. Mom, I know you would have loved her. She's everything we hoped for, and even though she's Mrs. Lee's daughter, she's ours now. You would have known how to love her the way we did, I think. She's so much like me when I was her age—fierce and full of life.
She's becoming the little princess, but she's going to grow up strong. We'll take care of her, just like you took care of me.
Dad... He's changed. In his own way, he's learning too. He's finally starting to understand. He gave me and my brothers space, Mom. I think he gets it now. I'm still angry, though. And maybe I'll never stop being angry at him for everything he put us through. But one day, when I'm ready, I'll forgive him. I'll heal. It's just going to take time.
I wish you could have seen us all now. We're different, Mom. We're stronger. And I'm okay. Really, I am.
I miss you, more than I could ever say in words.
