Jiyoo's Point Of View
I always thought hospital rooms were cold. The sterile white walls, the distant beeping of machines, the faint smell of antiseptic lingering in the air—it’s the kind of place that makes you feel small. But somehow, mine is always warm.
Maybe it’s because I’m never alone.
I hear the voices before I even open my eyes, a quiet hum of conversation blending with the soft shuffle of feet.
“She’s awake,” a nurse whispers, and almost immediately, I hear the familiar sound of a chair scraping back, rushed footsteps.
“Jiyoo.”
I turn my head slightly, and there he is—Ni-ki, standing by my bedside, his eyes searching mine like he still can’t believe I’m here. I offer him the smallest smile, and for a moment, his breath hitches. His grip on my hand tightens.
“You’re really awake,” he murmurs, as if he needs to say it out loud for it to be real.
Before I can reply, the door swings open, and a doctor walks in with a small team of nurses. My brothers are right behind them, looking half-exhausted, half-relieved.
“How are you feeling, Miss Park?” the doctor asks as he shines a small light into my eyes.
I clear my throat, my voice coming out weaker than I expect. “Like I’ve been hit by a truck.”
Chanyeol lets out a loud laugh, arms crossed. “Yeah, well, you scared us half to death, so we’re even.”
Jimin sighs, placing a gentle hand on my forehead like he’s checking my temperature himself. “You gave everyone a heart attack, you know that?”
The doctor shakes his head, smiling. “It really is a miracle. With the amount of trauma your body went through, we weren’t sure how long your recovery would take, but you’re already showing incredible progress.”
Sunghoon, who had been standing quietly near the foot of my bed, suddenly speaks up. “So she’s going to be okay?”
“She will be,” the doctor reassures. “With proper rest and care.”
I let out a slow breath, taking in the relieved faces around me. I’m still weak, still exhausted, but I’m here. I made it.
After the doctor leaves, I barely get a moment to process everything before the door bursts open again.
“Park Jiyoo!”
I don’t even have time to brace myself before Sunoo and Jungwon rush to my bedside, their faces a mix of excitement and scolding.
“You almost died!” Sunoo dramatically gasps, throwing himself at the edge of my bed. “Do you know how traumatized I am?”
Jungwon shakes his head, arms crossed. “We were about to hold a funeral for you.”
I raise an eyebrow. “Oh? And what was the theme?”
Sunoo grins. “Something dramatic. A black and white aesthetic. Lots of roses. I was planning to give a speech about how I was your favorite person in the world.”
I snort. “Delusional as ever.”
Ni-ki, who has been watching the exchange in silence, finally speaks. “She’s barely conscious, and you’re already planning her fake funeral?”
Sunoo shrugs. “I cope in unique ways.”
Despite myself, I smile. This is what I needed. Lighthearted moments, familiar faces, reminders that even after everything, life is still moving forward.
