Ni-ki stood by the school gates, his heart pounding in his chest. Today was the day. He was going to tell Jiyoo how he really felt, no matter what.

He glanced nervously at the school entrance, waiting for her to emerge. As if on cue, Jiyoo walked out with her brothers, Jay and Sunghoon, flanking her on either side.

Jungwon, much to Ni-ki’s dismay, was trailing closely behind them.

Ni-ki took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. It’s now or never, he thought to himself.

Just as he was about to step forward, Sunoo popped up beside him with a mischievous grin.

“Hey, Ni-ki! What’s up?” Sunoo asked, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

Ni-ki shot him a look. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh, nothing much,” Sunoo said casually, leaning against the gate. “Just here to watch the show.”

“What show?” Ni-ki narrowed his eyes at him, suspicious.

Sunoo smirked. “The one where you finally confess to Jiyoo, and I get to sit back and enjoy the chaos.”

Ni-ki groaned. “You’re not helping.”

“I’m just here for moral support,” Sunoo said innocently, though the glint in his eyes suggested otherwise. “And maybe to make sure Jungwon doesn’t get in the way.”

Ni-ki sighed, knowing there was no getting rid of Sunoo. “Fine, just don’t make it worse.”

“No promises,” Sunoo replied cheerfully.

As Jiyoo and her brothers approached, Ni-ki’s heart started racing again. He waved at them, and Jiyoo smiled as she walked over, with Jay and Sunghoon hanging back a little, clearly aware of what was about to happen.

“Hey, Ni-ki,” Jiyoo greeted him, her smile bright as always.

“Jiyoo, can we… talk?” Ni-ki stammered, his usual confidence slipping away.

Jiyoo looked at him curiously. “Sure. What’s up?”

Before Ni-ki could gather his thoughts, Jungwon appeared at Jiyoo’s side, smiling innocently. “Mind if I join you guys?”

Ni-ki felt his stomach drop.

Of course, he’s here too, he thought bitterly.

Jungwon, with his easygoing nature and puppy-like enthusiasm, always seemed to find a way to be around Jiyoo. And now, he was completely ruining Ni-ki’s chance to confess.

Sunoo, sensing the tension, decided to intervene. “Actually, Jungwon, why don’t you come with me for a second? I need your help with something.”

Jungwon blinked in surprise. “Help with what?”

“Oh, just… something. Trust me, it’ll be fun,” Sunoo said, already pulling Jungwon away by the arm. “You can catch up with Jiyoo and Ni-ki later.”

Jungwon looked confused but didn’t resist. “Okay, I guess…”

As Sunoo dragged Jungwon away, Ni-ki took a deep breath, grateful for the brief reprieve. He turned back to Jiyoo, who was watching him with a mix of curiosity and concern.

“Ni-ki, is everything okay?” she asked, her voice soft.

Ni-ki swallowed hard. “Actually, there’s something I need to tell you. Something important.”

Jiyoo’s expression turned serious. “What is it?”

Just as Ni-ki was about to speak, Sunoo’s voice rang out from behind him. “Hey, Jungwon! You’re supposed to be helping me, not eavesdropping!”
