Jiyoo's Point Of View
I expected to return home to the usual—maybe my brothers being overprotective, Ni-ki not leaving my side, and my friends stopping by to check on me. But this?
This was something else entirely.
As soon as I stepped through the door, warmth wrapped around me like a long-lost embrace. A giant banner stretched across the living room, painted in bright, clashing colors.
The words “WELCOME HOME, JIYOO!” were scrawled in big, uneven letters, as if someone had been too excited to stay inside the lines.
It was almost adorable.
And then, before I could take it all in—
"Jiyoo-noona!"
A small figure barreled toward me before I could even fully step inside.
Seola, Ni-ki’s youngest sister, nearly knocked the breath out of me as she latched onto my waist. Her tiny arms wrapped around me with surprising strength, her face buried against my stomach.
"You got really hurt!" Seola cried, looking up at me with wide, worried eyes.
From behind her, a more composed but still visibly relieved Konon, Ni-ki’s older sister, crossed her arms and gave me a once-over.
"You really scared everyone, you know that?" Her voice was firm, but the way her eyes softened betrayed her concern.
"We were so scared," Seola added, clinging even tighter, as if afraid I’d disappear again.
I blinked, caught off guard. Ni-ki had told them about what happened, but I didn’t think they’d be this shaken.
Before I could reassure them, Ni-ki’s mother stepped forward, her warm, kind smile filling the space between us. “Welcome home, sweetheart.”
My chest tightened at her gentle voice.
“Thank you,” I said softly, my voice coming out smaller than I intended.
And then, Ni-ki’s father approached, holding their youngest sibling—Rio, their baby brother.
The little one giggled, his chubby hands reaching toward me.
I laughed despite myself, stepping forward slightly. My legs still felt weak, but I could walk without help now. Still, Ni-ki’s hand hovered near my back, ready to steady me if I needed it.
“Even Rio missed me, huh?” I teased, touching his tiny fingers.
Ni-ki chuckled, his voice lower, softer. “Of course, he did. You’re part of the family now.”
His words sent a strange warmth spreading through my chest.
But before I could get too caught up in the moment, my gaze landed on someone else.
A figure sitting in the corner of the room, slightly withdrawn, as if he wasn’t sure if he belonged here.
Heeseung.
I froze.
But it wasn’t just him.
Because standing beside him—
Was Jiwoo.
She was holding the hem of Heeseung’s sleeve, her small fingers fidgeting with the fabric. But her big, round eyes were locked onto me, filled with something so genuine, so innocent.
Concern.
And then—
“Eonni!”
Before I could even react, she ran straight toward me.
