Chapter Sixty

Today was the day.

They had enough guns and enough people. The hilltop and the kingdom hadn't shown up and it left them down a few but Rick had made a deal with a new group. They lived in a trash dump but they certainly had the numbers. The plan was to rig a few cars outside of Alexandria to blow up when Negan and his people were by the gate. Thankfully Dwight had told the truth and slowed down the saviors. It gave them enough time to get all their bombs set up and the trash people in position.

"So these people, you sure you trust them?" Adrianna asked as she looked over the dirty people around.

"Too late to rethink it now." Rick replied. He was right, they were the only ones they had to help them fight on such a short notice.

"Something just seems off about them."

"What do you mean?" Rick and Daryl looked to the woman for her explanation.

"Well for one, they live in trash." Daryl nodded and murmured in agreement. "And two, the leader, she seems unstable. She's the type who would do anything for what she wanted, if the saviors got to them already-" Rick cut her off before she could continue. "They didn't." She shot him an apprehensive look. "We made a deal." He reassured.
She looked back to the multitude of people around, they could easily switch up. "Yeah, well you better hope they're people of their word." Adrianna warned. Rick fell silent as it was time to get into their positions, they would be here any moment. He walked away from the couple and made his way up to the guard post, he had the perfect view of the road ahead.

"Hey. We got this." Daryl nudged Adrianna. She looked over to him as they made their way over to the cover car they had parked in front of the gate. "We have to." He urged. This was their only chance, if they didn't fight now their people would die.

She nodded in response and they stayed behind the car as Rosita and Tara walked over. "Rosita, get into position. I'll signal you." Rick called out from the post. She nodded and walked over to the part of the gate where you could see out when closed. "You're sure the walls gonna hold?" Rick asked. If they blew up the saviors and their own wall, the dead would be their next issue. Rosita nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure." Rick looked down to the couple close by her and they gave him a reassuring nod. This was gonna be the easiest way to take out the saviors, they just needed to have hope in the walls.

A distinct rumble filled the air and everyone prepared their weapons. "All points are covered, every contingency is already met." Eugene's voice echoed through the street as the group of vehicles came into sight. "I come armed with two barrels of the truth. A test is upon you and I'm giving on the cheat sheet." He continued. The vehicles pulled to a stop in front of the gate and Eugene hopped down from the top of a truck. He dropped the megaphone he was using and took a step closer to the rigged vehicles they had outside. "I come salved with the hope that is my great knowledge that you heed.
Compliance and fealty is your only escape." Adrianna and Daryl shared a look. This man could never speak normal. "Bottom lining it, you may thrive, or you may die. I sincerely wish for the former for everyone's sake. The jig is up and in full effect. Will you comply Rick?" Eugene questioned.

"Where's Negan?" Rick asked.

"I'm Negan."

The people of Alexandria felt the betrayal hit them like a ton of bricks. They knew the man was weak but they didn't expect him to be that weak. Rick dropped his head before turning to Rosita, he have her a small nod. She fumbled with the remote and turned over her shoulder to Adrianna. The woman also shot her a nod and she understood. She pressed the button and the group dropped to the ground in preparation for the explosions. A moment passed by and nothing happened, the silence filled the air and the group knew something was wrong. This was a set up. Basically in sync the group attempted to pull their weapons on the trash people in their walls but it was too late. All of the people had Alexandria under their own aim.
