A few days had passed since taking out the saviors.
The town felt safe and secure knowing that a threat like that was taken out. They had more than enough food for a while and the armory was stocked full of the weapons they had taken from the saviors. The community was happy, everything was going good.
Adrianna and Daryl were sat on their porch. The light breeze flowed nicely and their silence was comforting. Daryl was busy carving arrows while Adrianna cleaned her crossbow. She noticed the lingering gaze from Daryl, his eyes involuntarily kept flicking over to the weapon in her hands. "Jealous?" Her voice broke the silence. His eyes flashed from the crossbow to her face and the shit eating grin on her face made him grunt out a response. She let out a small laugh and turned back to cleaning her weapon. It was clear Daryl missed his crossbow but he was pleased he was at least able to get his bike back.
"Excuse me." A voice spoke up softly. The couple looked up and a nervous Denise was stood in front of them. "Sorry to disturb you guys, but uh, I wanted to show you guys something."
They stood up and walked down the porch steps to join her. "After I got out of DC, I just drove." Denise pointed to a folded up map in her hand. "I remember seeing, right when I didn't know where I was going, Edison's apothecary and boutique. It's a little store in a strip mall but if it was really an apothecary, they had drugs." She finished telling the couple.
"How do you know they're still there?" Daryl asks.
"It isn't that far, I just want to check. And you and Adrianna aren't out scavenging or pulling shifts."
The couple shared a look and nodded. "We'll go."
"I wanted to check." She spoke up quickly. Their questioning eyes fell back to her. "I just want to help." Her pleading voice added.
"How much time have you spent out there?"
"None."
The couple scoffed in response. "Forget it." Daryl waved her off, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I can id the meds, I know how to use a machete now, and I've seen roamers up close." She argued back. "I'm ready." She attempted to keep her voice strong but the slight crack gave her true feelings away.
"You okay with this?" Daryl asks his wife.
"No." She replied back quickly. Adrianna wasn't going to take somebody out who was prepared. It was dangerous for everyone involved and they had lost enough already.
"I'll go alone if I have to." Denise offers.
"You'll die alone."
"That's why I'm asking you guys to make sure I don't." She urged.
Daryl looked to Adrianna and shrugged. "I'm not going to be babysitting her." She said putting her crossbow over her shoulder and walking away. If Daryl wanted to bring Denise out, fine, but she wasn't going to be watching her back every second.
They had a job to do.

The three of them were piled into an older, beat up truck. Tension rose in the air as the girls kept looking to Daryl. He was the one driving and he wasn't doing a good job. A loud grinding kept sounding out from the car as he attempted to switch gears repeatedly.
"Um, you should-" Denise spoke up but cut her self off. "Nevermind."
"What?" He asked. The grinding continued to make them cringe.
"I just think maybe you're disengaging it too soon.
I've been driving stick since I was fifteen, mainly old beat up trucks like this." She paused. "Well, before I had left home. My brother taught me so it's something I just know."
