"You coming?" James asked me excitedly, holding up his cloak. Remus would not meet my eyes, but Sirius and Peter were still happy I was coming with them.
"Duh!" I laughed and threw the book I was reading on the table. We never got to go 'practice' yesterday because Sirius was still in the hospital wing with black ears. Sadly, his face was finally back to normal, much to James' dismay. So there was no way I was going to miss out today.
Bustling under that cloak with five people is really hard. Actually, it was quite impossible. As we walked through the corridors, I probably stepped on five different feet.
"Okay, this isn't working," Sirius groaned. "Just have two people walk outside the cloak, it's five o'clock, not like it will be suspicious or anything."
Pushing Remus and Peter out from under the cloak, it was much easier to navigate the halls. I began to wonder where we were going when Remus and Peter stopped in front of a large door on the seventh floor.
"Here we are," Remus sighed and pushed open the door, revealing a large room full of spell books and magical items used in transfiguration. The room was like some sort of classroom, but I'd never seen or heard of this place before.
"Welcome to the Room of Requirement!" James announced proudly. "We used to go to the Forbidden Forest, but we got chased by some centaurs one day. Then we found this room. Very convenient, if you ask me."
"Centaurs?" I questioned and looked at a book on a one of the shelves titled The History of Animagi.
"Yes, they're in the forest. Just don't get on their bad side," James nodded grimly, reminiscing whatever went on in the forest with the centaurs.
"Okay, so where do I begin?" I asked happily, just glad to finally be there with them.
"Prongs, teach her how to cast a Patronus, it's going to take her a while. I'll keep working on that first step of becoming an Animagus with Wormtail and Moony," Sirius replied, leaving James and I in the center of the room.
"Alright, just don't turn into a half dog again!" James called after him with a laugh. Turning his attention to me, James brought out his wand. "Do you even know where to begin?"
Shaking my head, James grinned and held out his wand, a look of determination on his face.
"Expecto Patronum!" James shouted. Immediately, a bright silver light shot from the tip of James' wand. From the light, a gorgeous silver stag appeared, prancing about the room, glowing, silvery wisps trailing after it.
"It's beautiful!" I marveled, watching the giant, ghostly stag run around.
"That is a corporeal Patronus." James looked like a proud father as he watched the stag disappear in a flash of silver after making a full loop around the room. "That's what you need to do first in order to become an Animagus."
"So whatever my Patronus is... I'll become that Animagus, right?" I asked.
"Yes." James nodded and pocketed his wand. "To begin the Patronus Charm, you need to think of a happy memory, the happier the better. Then, while thinking of that memory, say the incantation 'Expecto Patronum'."
"Expect Patronum..." I repeated, memorizing the incantation. Now for a happy memory... Of all the happy times I'd had during my life, there was one memory that topped them all: the day when I pranked the whole school with Sirius. I was ecstatic that day...
