Lexi P.O.V.
"I'm not going to that class," Sirius huffed. "I am never going to defense against the dark arts again as long as that idiot is the professor."
Sirius was sitting with his feet propped up on the coffee table and his arms crossed defiantly. Professor White had given him three detentions in one week and he decided he had enough.
"Sirius, don't you want to do well on your N.E.W.T.s?" I sighed and pulled at a lock of his long, black hair.
"I will," Sirius growled. "I already know more about the subject without his teaching. And I can learn more in a day with the Order than I would in the whole year with that dark wizard."
"Suit yourself, mate," James shrugged. Sirius continued to pout as all the seventh year Gryffindors left him in the common room. As I stepped out of the portrait hole, his grey eyes followed me, almost begging me to stay with him and skip. I knew his threat about leaving the class for good was empty, he wouldn't let me be in the same classroom as Graham without him present. And I knew as soon as Sirius returned to class, the professor would give him a detention for skipping, starting the whole issue all over again.
"Prongs, make sure you keep an eye on that professor to make sure he's not checking out my girl!" Sirius shouted.
"Sure thing, Padfoot!" James called back. "But just so you know, he always does. What did you expect?"
"Was that necessary?" I huffed after the portrait of the Fat Lady closed behind us.
"What?" James shrugged. "I don't want him to fail his classes just as much as you do. And I know Dumbledore won't be able to get him out of this one if he doesn't show up. He's not going to pass his N.E.W.T.s."
When we arrived at his classroom, I sat down next to the empty seat where Sirius used to sit. Lily offered to keep me company and move, but I told her no, wanting to keep her in her spot next to James. They seemed to be getting along a lot better and I was just waiting for the day when they finally admitted they should end the squabbling arguments and just make out already.
I kept zoning out during Professor White's lesson about inferi. I knew he noticed my disinterest in his class and his brown eyes kept staring at me. But every time I felt his gaze land on me, I started scrawling in my notes, drawing a picture of a rather deformed unicorn.
"Lexi," Professor White called as soon as he dismissed the class. I thought I was going to be quick and escape before he singled me out, but I groaned when he said my name.
"Come to my classroom tonight for extra instruction, I don't think you're grasping the material very well," Graham noted in a cold tone.
"No thank you," I declined. "I think I understand the material well enough."
"It was not a request," he hissed. "I'll see you tonight at six."

"Don't go!" Lily shouted, absolutely horrified. "Even I don't think he's a very good person, Lexi!"
I had one hand on the back of the portrait hole, ready to walk out and meet Graham for his study session. All my friends sat in the common room, absolutely appalled I was going to meet him alone.
"I know he doesn't seem that way, Lily," I agreed. "But I did miss his lesson today because I couldn't focus. Maybe he just wants to help me."
"That's naive of you and you know it," James snorted. I bowed my head in agreement.
"At least take me with you," Remus suddenly offered. "I wasn't paying attention in class too because I always act a little... you know... before the full moon."
