Her cool blue eyes stared at me, unrelenting. Then again, I stared back at her with the same ferocity. Neither of us was going to give in.

"Like I said, I barely know the boy!" Mum repeated, stepping daringly closer, not backing down. At this point, our noses were almost touching as I scowled at her. The parchment in my hand fueled me forward, urging me to fight.

"Please? Don't you trust me? I'm almost fifteen! And he's a great gentleman!" I exasperated, clutching the letter tighter. Mum continued to stare at me, frowning. I narrowed my eyes at her, just daring her to fight me. Sirius might call me stubborn, but he's never met my determined mother.

"We settle this now." Mum breathed. Every time we had an argument, we needed our level headed moderator to resolve it...

"FELIX!" Mum and I screamed in unison. Immediately, Felix darted out of his room, flying down the stairs. When mum and I argue, things get extreme and Felix knows it's only a matter of minutes before we are about to rip each other's hair out.

"What is it now?" Felix sighed, taking his usual seat in the large armchair so he could face us as we continued to stare viciously at each other. I tapped my foot impatiently as mum started to explain.

"Your fourteen year old sister wants to go to the Quidditch World Cup with a sixteen year old boy I barely know, without me to keep an eye on her! For all I know, he could be a rapist!" Mum shouted, shooting daggers at me.

"Mum! His parents are going! It's not like we're even dating! We wouldn't do anything and he's a great person!" I exasperated, looking pointedly at Felix for support.

"Quiet!" Felix shushed us both. Mum continued to glower and I held her unrelenting gaze. "Okay, Lexi, you first explain. Who is this boy?"

"You know it's Robert!" I rolled my eyes at my oblivious brother. "We're just friends and he sent me this letter asking if I wanted to go with him to the Quidditch World Cup! Felix, you know he's a great person! Tell mum she's being paranoid!"

"Paranoid!" Mum squawked. "Don't use that tone with me! You're forgetting I am your mother! I can just as well stop you from going-"

"Mum, please. You can have your piece in a moment." Felix said calmly, forcing her to stand down. "But Lexi... You want to go with Robert? Once again, I thought it would be with Sirius... I mean, after that last night at Hogwarts when I caught you-"

"Nope, not me and Sirius!" I cut him off, sending him a warning look. Mum's angry demeanor faltered for a second and she looked at me quizzically. She had no idea about the supposed sneaking around after curfew with Sirius, and I'd like to keep it that way.

"You and Mr. Black too...?" Mum began, a curious look crossing her face.

"Nope! There is no me and Mr. Black!" I said hurriedly, trying to change the subject. "But there is a me and Mr. Wood and we are going to the Quidditch World Cup together!"

"No, you are not!" Mum interrupted acidly as she realized Felix was starting to take my side. "I don't know him and-"

"Mum, please, can I say something?" Felix asked softly, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I honestly know Robert... He's a genuinely nice guy, even if he is one of the only keepers in the school that could beat me... But I don't think you need to worry about her going... The Woods are great people and don't worry about Lex and Robert... Worry about Lex and Sirius-"

"For the love of Amortentia!" I groaned. "Sirius and I aren't dating and we never will!"

"Yeah, okay." Felix chuckled and shook his head. He turned back to my fuming mother who was drumming her fingers impatiently on our coffee table. "Now mum, tell me what your problem with Lexi going is?"
