July 8th, 1978 // Lexi P.O.V.

I couldn't even be humble and deny it. I looked better than ever on my wedding day. Lily's hours of curling hair and doing makeup really paid off. She made me feel confident, beautiful, and completely ready to get married.

Lily looked wonderful too. Her red hair was pinned in a neat updo and the bottle-green dress she wore really made her beautiful features pop. As she zipped up the back of my white dress, the final touch for my big day, she stepped back and gasped.

"Look at you, Lexi, wow," Lily gushed. "Sirius is going to cry!"

In reality, it looked like Lily who was the one who was about to cry. She started frantically fanning her watering eyes, worried she might smear her makeup. I wrapped my arms around her, which only seemed to make her sniffle more.

"Thank you, Lils. It's all because of you," I admitted. "Are all of the guests here?"

"Yes, from what I saw," Lily sniffled and dabbed at her eyes. "Felix will be coming to collect you any minute now and we will have to line up."

Sure enough, my brother knocked on the door and peeked his head into the room. His hazel eyes widened at the sight of me and he closed the door behind him. Although the father of the bride traditionally gives his daughter away, my older brother would be walking me down the aisle. After my dad's death, Felix was the closest thing I had to a father, and there was no one else I wanted to walk with me.

"Alexandra," Felix sighed. "Look at you! You look just like mum on her wedding day!"

"Thanks, Felix," I sighed and gave him a hug. I was honored to wear my mother's dress and I couldn't wait for her to see me in it. "That means more to me than anything."

"Are you nervous?" he questioned. He ran a hand through his neatly trimmed brown hair. "I was on my wedding day. You know, it's not too late to back out!"

I slugged him in the shoulder of his black tuxedo. Felix rubbed his arm. It had to hurt, he was just punched by a four-year Gryffindor Beater.

"I've found my one true love! I don't even have cold feet."

"Dad would be so proud of you," Felix blurted. A cold, dreary feeling washed over my body at the comment, but Felix did not look upset. He held me at arms end, his eyes sparkling.

"I wish he was here," I admitted.

"He is."

Although my father wasn't attending the wedding, I knew what Felix meant. He was there in spirit, in our hearts, and in Felix himself. My brother was a spitting image of my dad.

"Are you two ready? James and Sirius are standing by the alter and the guests are all seated," Lily called after peering into the church. At the mention of my soon-to-be husband's name, my heart sped up.

"Yes," I shakily exhaled. Felix gave me a reassuring look and offered his elbow. Lily helped me pull the veil over my face and handed me my bouquet of red roses. She bit her lip and flashed me one more smile before grabbing her own bouquet and soon we standing at the top of the aisle.

The music from the self-playing violins and flutes filled my ears. Lily left my vision and moments later, I heard the priest tell everyone to rise.

Felix and I stood at the entrance of the church and I took a breath and squeezed Felix's arm. I felt like I might fall in my heels, but he would catch me. The typical song for the bride's entrance began to play and I lifted my head from staring at the hem of my dress. I was so nervous, I might've stood there for hours, until Felix nudged me forward, pulling me by the elbow.
