James and Lily pushed the date of their wedding back a whole month due to the murder. No one was in the mood for a wedding when six people were killed. However, I convinced Lily the whole Order and world could use a some more love. Lily was always the best at spreading joy and love. So finally, on September second, the wedding of James Potter and Lily Evans took place right at Potter Manor.
There were even less people invited to their wedding than Sirius and I invited to ours. Lily was also very insistent that we do no magic at the wedding. Due to Lily being a Muggle-born witch, besides her parents and sister, no one in the Evans family knew about magic or where Lily went to school.
In the final moments before the wedding, I left Lily with her mother to add finishing touches to her hair and makeup. I was completely ready for the wedding, my hair pulled up in curled side ponytail and my red dress on. As I walked through the halls of Potter Manor, greeting the guests and pointing them in the direction of the ceremony, I received complements from people I knew as well as strangers. Finally, I was knocking on the bedroom door where Sirius and James getting ready.
Sirius opened the door at the sound and I stopped breathing.
"My, you look smashing," I gasped, my eyes admiring his sleek appearance. He truly did. Although he completely lacked the snooty pure-blood attitude, Sirius Black still inherited the aristocratic good looks from his family, allowing him to look important and handsome in formal wear. He looked as perfect as he did on our wedding day. The look on his face was one of shock as I walked into the room.
"Lexi, isn't it wrong to see the matron of honor before the wedding?" Sirius questioned. His grey eyes kept scanning over me in amazement.
"You're thinking of the bride not being allowed to see the groom."
I stepped over to him and placed my hands on the shoulders of his tuxedo. Slowly, he lowered his face to mine before speaking again, the softness of his words brushing against my lips.
"Well isn't it wrong for the matron of honor to look better than the bride?"
"I highly doubt that is true!" James exclaimed, entering from the adjourning bathroom. "And Merlin, get a room you two!"
"We would but you and Lily already had them all booked for tonight!" Sirius laughed, pulling away from me to ruffle James' hair. James blushed and rolled his eyes.
"He is right, love," I smiled. "Lily does look better than me."
"I'm a lucky man," James admitted. He stood in front of the mirror and straightened the red rose pinned to his pocket. I stepped behind him and attempted to fix his untidy black hair, but even with magic, it still did whatever it wanted. James grinned at himself in the mirror and straightened his glasses. "How do I look?"
"Dashing," Peter piped up. He poked his head in the doorway, looking astonishingly nice in his dress robes. "Very handsome, mate."
"Peter have you seen Remus?" James asked. "I think he's the only one who I haven't seen yet."
Sirius and I stared at our feet. Remus would be there, I was certain of it, but I knew the wedding would be hard on him. He was watching two people who shared so much love get married when his love was murdered. Remus wanted to enjoy this joyous occasion with Marlene. Without her, the wedding would be painful for Remus.
James seemed to forget about Remus' absence and started frantically running around. He started to overturn the whole room, seemingly searching for something.
"The rings!" James suddenly yelped. "The rings! I think I lost them! Accio rings!"
Sirius and I both cried out when our wedding rings flew off our fingers and right at James' head, along with nearly fifteen other gold and silver rings which came flying through the doorway. We picked up our rings from the ground and glared at James, who just accidentally stole nearly a dozen rings from his wedding guests.
