"Padfoot! I didn't know you were taking Muggle Studies!" I exclaimed as I walked into my first ever Muggle Studies class. Because third years got to pick some new electives, I chose Muggle Studies and Care of Magical Creatures.

"I only told you like three times!" Sirius chuckled as I took a seat next to him.

"I guess I wasn't listening... You're too boring!" I joked. It was surprising to me that a pure blood like Sirius decided to take a class like Muggle Studies. "Why'd you take Muggle Studies anyways? You must be the only pure-blood in here!"

A dark look seemed to cross Sirius' face and his eyes looked steely rather than their usual bright and intriguing grey. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the arms of his chair.

"Is that all you think matters to me? My blood?" he spat, scaring me for a moment. Sirius noticed the look of fright on my face and slightly smiled, softening his expression with his usual smirk. "Just because my family doesn't like Muggles or half-bloods doesn't mean I don't."

"I'm sorry..." I muttered, not sure what to say to him. Obviously, Sirius had a lot of problems he doesn't really let on to... I always thought he had it all: both parents, lots of money...

"It's okay," Sirius whispered gruffly as Professor Burbage started class. "But just so it's clear, I am not my family. And I don't care about blood purity or any of that nonsense... It doesn't define who you actually are."

"So did you get the stuff Prongs?" I asked as I heard his footsteps approaching Sirius and me. James insisted on practicing for Quidditch tryouts as soon as possible. He was adamant that we make the team. As a result, James decided to sneak into the Quidditch locker rooms and steal some Bludgers and bats.

"Of course I did!" James said proudly and showed me two basketball sized black balls that were struggling to escape from under his arm. In his other hand, he held two Beater's bats. I couldn't help but notice something enclosed in James' fist; something gold.

"What do you have there Prongs?" I nodded my head at his fist. Proudly, he held up a fluttering golden Snitch. "What did you steal that for?!"

"It doesn't matter that I stole it! They've got like a hundred of them that have never been used before in there!" James explained as the snitch beat its wings helplessly against his fingers. "Nobody will miss it and I thought it was cool!"

"Prongs, you're not even a Seeker," Sirius sighed from beside me. I rolled my head over, so I was facing him. Sirius looked so at peace, lying there in the grass, his dark hair spread out like a halo around his head. Basking in the sunlight and staring at the calm blue sky, Sirius and I wouldn't budge to get up and start practicing.

"Get up you lazy prats!" James shouted when he realized neither of us wanted to do anything. "You can't make the team by lying there in the grass!"

"Sure I can!" I replied and rolled my eyes up at James. "I'll be the beauty of the team, they need me."

"Excuse you, that position will be taken by me!" Sirius joked and tore up a handful of grass and proceeded to throw it in my face. In retaliation, I started to throw grass in his mouth, but James stepped firmly between us.

"Neither of you can be the beauty of the team if you don't actually make the team!" James expressed. "Besides, I'm already the beauty anyways."

"With that ugly mug?" Sirius joked and sat up, picking up his broom as he did. Reluctantly, I got up too and picked up my Nimbus, ready to impress James with my Beater skills.
