(𝙔/𝙣)'𝙨 𝙋𝙊𝙑

You sat at the back of the helicopter alongside L and Light who sat at the front.

You were able to successfully lure Kyosuke Higuchi out and now he was cornered by the taskforce.

You watched as they retrieved a black leather notebook from Higuchi. Soichiro Yagami was the first person to hold the notebook. He suddenly stumbled backwards as he looked up.

He spoke into the microphone, seemingly to L before walking towards L and handing the notebook to him.

L held the notebook and looked towards Higuchi in amusement.

"So they do exist.." L muttered to himself.

Suddenly, Light got curious and snatched the notebook from L. Light suddenly froze and then he let out the most blood-curdling scream.

"Light what happened?" You panicked as you tried to shake Light out of it but nothing seemed to work.

L just looked at Light in slight shock before he narrowed his eyes a little. You didn't see that, you were too busy with Light.

Light suddenly stopped screaming as he collected himself very quickly as if nothing ever happened.

"Are you alright Light-kun?" L asked as Light nodded and started writing something down from the notebook.

"I'll write down the names of criminals he wrote here and match them with the deaths we have recorded" Light said calmly as he started jotting down names on a different notebook as the death note was still in his hand.

Light smirked internally as he discreetly wrote down Higuchi's name in a piece of paper of the death note he hid in his watch.

"Are you okay Light?" (Y/n) asked in a gentle tone as she gently grabbed Light's arm.

"Did I scare you? I'm sorry sweetheart.. I was a bit shocked" Light smiled at his lover before turning to L.

L noticed the shift in Light's demeanor but decided to not say anything about it. Not yet.

"Um... can I hold the notebook.. You know to see that thing.? Shinigami?" (Y/n) asked L as he nodded.

Before she could touch the notebook, a panicked voice of soichiro Yagami came in through the microphone.

"Ryuzaki! We're losing Higuchi!"

"... " L gritted his teeth as he looked towards the commotion where Higuchi clutched his chest tightly before dropping on the cold floor, unmoving.

Light grinned internally. He was winning, he knew it.

Everyone sat in silence as they stared at the white Shinigami before them who introduced herself as Rem.

Everyone was serious except for Minoru as he was busy with a game on his Nintendo DS.

L decided to keep Minoru in the taskforce as he was still suspicious about him being the second Kira.

L examined the death note they retrieved and read the very last rule written.

"𝘖𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘦, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩"

𝘐𝘵'𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘬𝘦. 𝘓 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘒𝘪𝘳𝘢, 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭, 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘤𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘓 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘪.

"Wait... So this means that Light can't be Kira right? Because he was chained with L for a month.. There was no way he could use the notebook without L noticing!" Matsuda chimed in, happy with the possibility that Light is not Kira.

L however did not seem to agree.

L decides to experiment on the 13 day rule. If it turns out to be fake then Light and Minoru will be executed.

"...." Silence. The sound of silence was louder than anything else.

Minoru stopped his game as he discreetly glared at Rem, his eyes glowing red in the process.

Rem's eyes also glow red before she quickly walked through the wall into the room where Watari was.

Rem started writing in her death note.

"𝘘𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘞𝘢𝘮𝘮𝘺"

"𝘓 𝘓𝘢𝘸𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘵"

Watari cluchted his chest after exactly 40 seconds. He quickly pressed a button which deleted every single data in the entire Taskforce branch.

This blew off a huge alarm.

L stared at the the screen.

"Watari..."

"What's going on!?" Matsuda panicked as L spoke calmly.

"I told Watari to delete all the data if anything were to happen to him.."

L looked around as he suddenly yelled.

"Everyone the Shinigami-"

Time seemed to slow down as L fell down from his chair gracefully. His eyes held the look of betrayal as he was caught by Light.

Light screamed and yelled for L to hold onto his life. This was all a show. Light was grinning evilly at L as he watched L slowly perish.

L stared at Light who was grinning at him.

𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘪𝘵...

𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨...

His vision blurred as everything finally blacked out. The immense pain in his chest dissipated as he felt relaxed and calm in his final moment.

He was glad that he wasn't wrong about Light yet regretful at the same time for not being able to catch Kira.
