A few days had passed since Soichiro Yagami's funeral. The yagami family was utterly broken, with their biggest anchor now gone from their lives, forever.

You were now walking to the taskforce headquarters. It's the first time you were visiting the headquarters after you decided to resign from your position as an agent. It wasn't actually your decision, Light had persuaded you to resign since it was getting too 'dangerous'.

You felt a chill run through your spine as you stood in front of the different yet somewhat familiar entrance of the headquarters building.

You clutched the bag in your hand which had an assortment of Light's favorite food.

This was the most you could do for Light, be by his side while he's going through immense emotional turmoil.

As you boarded the elevator, your mind couldn't help but wander back to Light's unusual behavior.

His father had just passed away yet he barely showed any sighs of grief after the funeral.

It's as if nothing ever happened.

Perhaps you were reading the situation wrong, perhaps Light was just trying to cope by feigning ignorance.

Yet, it felt so unnatural.

Eerily so.

𝘉𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘱

The elevator door screeched open as it stopped at the 18th floor. The floor where the main taskforce monitoring room was.

You took a deep breath as you pressed the button next to the huge steel door which alerted the people inside about the presence of anyone outside, much like a calling bell.

The wait wasn't long as the door almost instantly opened to reveal Matsuda with his youthful eyes.

"(Y/n)! It's been such a long time! Come in!" Matsuda enthusiastically welcomed you in.

As you walked inside you saw most of the taskforce members already looking at you, including Light, who initially seemed a bit surprised but he smiled at you nevertheless.

You bowed slightly as you spoke.
"Hello.. I apologize for dropping by without a notice, I hope I'm not disturbing you all.."

"No (Y/n) it's fine.. Take your time, it's not like we have any prominent leads anyway" Aizawa suddenly spoke up, reassuring you that your presence is not at all a hindrance.

Which was surprising, Aizawa was always the serious man, he hated wasting time but today was different for some reason.

You gave a curt nod to Aizawa and Mogi as they returned the nod and went back to monitoring some data.

You diverted your attention towards Light to find him already looking at you.

As you approached your lover, he took your hand and made you sit on the empty chair next to him.

Light just smiled at you, not asking or questioning anything which was bizarre. He just stared at you as if he wanted you to tell him about your unexpected visit first.

"Um.. Light.. I made you lunch" you say a lot more awkwardly than you had imagined as you hand the bag to Light.

Light placed the bag on the desk as he turned to you and swiftly pulled you into his arms.

"It's good that you came over, I was missing you" Light muttered as he gently ran his fingers through your hair.

Light pulled away after a while as Mogi cleared his throat.

"Light we'll go and grab some lunch from the cafeteria" Mogi said as Aizawa agreed.

Matsuda not having read the room properly was about to protest before he got pulled outside by the other members of the taskforce.

Light smiles at his lover as he opens the bag to pull out a huge bento box.

Light arched his eyebrows at his fiancee playfully as he watched her chuckle nervously.

"I may have packed too much.." She said sheepishly as Light laughed softly.

"Well that's good, we can have this lunch together then.." Light said as he opened the bento box and separated the multiple layers with multiple side dishes and dessert.

After eating together, you stayed seated next to Light as you watched him do some work on his screen.

The other members of the taskforce slowly filled in the room as the lunch break was over. Everyone sat at their designated spots.

As you looked around, you realized there were no new taskforce members, all of them were the ones who were already working with L. The taskforce was awfully small.

You turned to Light as you thought about asking him to let you join the taskforce.

This wouldn't be the first time, you asked him a few times before but he refused to let you in the taskforce claiming that Kira is more dangerous than he ever was, especially after killing L.

Well he wasn't wrong.

You decided to swallow your question, knowing Light wouldn't change his mind and you also didn't want to ruin his mood.
