Light was sitting next to his love interest in a huge auditorium filled with multiple students who had graduated. This was the graduation ceremony.

Light couldn't help but eye (Y/n) every now and then, trying to make it as discreet as possible. It was fairly easy for him because (Y/n) was invested into the ceremony although it was just some boring authorities giving some boring speech about life and stuff.

(Y/n) was wearing a formal black dress and it made her look so ethereal. Light couldn't take his eyes off her.

𝘠𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭... 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵...

Light was so into his own thoughts that he failed to notice a figure take the other seat right next to him.

That was until, he felt an eerie presence of being watched. He looked sideways discreetly to be met with that very strange man who gave the exam with them the other day.

The man with disheveled jet black hair was crouching on the chair just like how he did during the exams.

What concerned Light more was that the man was staring into Light's soul intently, he wasn't even trying to hide the fact that he was observing every move Light made.

... 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥?...

Light did his best to avoid making eye contact with the strange man and just looked forwards towards the stage.  Anyone looking at Light would've thought that Light was watching the ceremony but two men knew that was not the case.

One was Light and the other being the man.

The man smirked and inched even closer to Light's face.

"Light Yagami?"

Light froze at his name being mentioned as he had no choice now but to talk to the man. Great.

".. Yes that's me"

"... I'd like to tell you a secret..." The man whispered to Light while Light tried to keep his composure.

Light didn't say anything and just looked forward as the man inched closer to Light's ear.

"I'm L"

Light visibly got tense for a second which did not go unnoticed by the claimed detective, world's greatest detective.

Light quickly regained his composure and slightly turned towards L.

"If you are who you say you are then I have nothing but respect for you" Light said.

The person speaking on the mic suddenly called out to two students who got the country's highest score.

"Light Yagami and Hideki Ryuga"

The auditorium erupted in claps as (Y/n) looked towards Light and smiled brightly at him.

Light gave his love interest a small hug while she was still seated.

"Congratulations Light~" the girl whispered as Light finally broke the hug and thanked (Y/n) before walking over to the stage followed by the underdressed man.

Your eyes met with the man for a short while, as Light was hugging you, you saw that man staring at you both with amusement.

You didn't think much about it.

Light gave a scripted speech followed by the other man named Ryuga.

Light stood next to Ryuga and noticed his eccentric behavior. He was holding the script with his thumb and index fingers as if he was afraid of getting germs on his hands while he himself looked so messy.

After the speech was over, Light and Ryuga walked back to their respective seats.

Light glanced at L who was staring at him intently just like before.
