Days had passed as the investigation seemed to remain at a standstill.
One moment L would deduce the identity of Kira before it was quickly debunked.
Light on the other hand kept getting luckier. He could continue making L go around in circles before he decided to drop the 'Kira case' but even Light knew L would never give up. Not until his last breath.
That's why Light needed to kill L. As quickly as he could.

Light stared at Minoru with scrutiny. The Shinigami started cackling.
Something was wrong.
"You.... You didn't gain the 'eyes' from your Shinigami did you?" Light asked in a calm and composed tone.
"... I guess you could say that" Minoru replied nonchalantly.
Light sighed as he turned around and walked away without another word.
"... Hey! I could still be useful to you.." Minoru called out to Light as he rushed to catch up with his pace.
Light didn't utter a word nor did he spare Minoru a glance as he kept walking.
"Light Yagami, think about it.. Even if the notebook is revoked from me, I'll still have the eyes, I will not forget about the notebook..."
Light stopped in his tracks as he turned around to face Minoru.
"Even so.. You're not helping, I'm not a patient man, Minoru" Light replied.
"... Fine.. Let me make it up to you... Within the next week, L will die"
".... "
Light smirked internally as he finally looked at Minoru's pleading eyes.

Light grit his teeth as he looked at Minoru who was now standing in front of Light, his usual cocky behavior was now replaced by something more uneasy.
"Look.. I can definitely help you.. I just need some time.."
"You already saw L's name didn't you? If you won't tell me then what's the use of you?" Light said in a tone that was sharper than a butcher's knife.
Minoru winced as he looked into Light's eyes, his own eyes shining red like that of a Shinigami.
"I can't tell you right now.. But... I'll do anything to make you trust me"
"Revoke the notebook to me"
".... Fine.."

Minoru's eyes still gleamed red as he looked up at Light.
"Now do you trust me?"
"... You remember everything don't you?"
Minoru stays silent, not answering as he just watches Light.
Light chuckles in disbelief.
"I had a suspicion but I never thought it was possible!"
"You were born with the Shinigami eyes..."

Sorry for the short chapter, I have an ending in mind but I'm not sure how to get there yet lol. Regardless, I will end this book soon~ Also I know this chapter doesn't quite make sense because it's mostly Minoru's origin (I changed it for the story purpose and made it similar to Beyond Birthday) I will try to write the next chapter better. 😅
