There are various things that trouble us as a conglomerate business empire. Each field of our business faces different troubles. However, having the hospitality and hotel groups as our leading forefront and face it is obvious we deal with most disputes there. .

But a technical error and data breach is for the first time since the time I joined eight years back. Security issues are one of the major concerns for a hotel group that regards not just the business but also the clients. And I've always taken it seriously as it should have been taken. Till date no information or details of any of our clients have gone past the gates of our records. I've made sure of it. The tech company is paid in millions to handle it and get their things together. They've never disappointed.

Until today.

One of the biggest trademarks of our hotel management group is loyalty and confidentiality. None other than our staff and the four walls of a building knows about the people we confine until they come with a warrant. It is our reputation, an unsung tagline for Jahaan Hotels and Co.

With that comes strength, power; our goodwill. and also fragility. It is as fragile as strength. And an incident like today's could surely leave a stain on our goodwill.

In a long time for the first time I've encountered a data breach. It's not the worst case scenario to ever happen to us. I've dealt with worse situations– for say– robbery, fire break-outs, death of famous people and a hell lot of nasty affairs and a bunch of dramatic customers. And today I simply happened to have had another dramatic ass customer stay in one of our hotel branches.

Just that, the customer is one Mr. Ashish Patel, a political icon of the leading party. I guess that says it all, politics. Having numerous disputes with the opposition, media and common people in general haven't done him or us any good, and cherry to the melting cake came when the news of this popular man's whereabouts went out feral.

The public, media and union members of the opposition had crowded our property and made rucks for a good forty-five minutes trying to break in until the police intervened soon after I got the call. Our security team followed after they left to guard the place until this particular headache would end his stay and leave.

The chaos that broke out along with the dramatic ass man who's threatening to sue us is the only reason I'm here, 55 miles away from home, in Lonavala. Sitting in a cabin while sipping on a cup of crappy tea while watching a bunch of grown-up men who's got the best tech degrees spiral in confusion and anxiety trying to find a miniature bug in the system.

I sigh loudly, making clear of the annoyance I feel to the people around.

I'm exhausted, fuming and moreover simply exhausted.

"What's the update?" My voice booms and every other one stills.

The specs guy who sits behind the screen peers at me over the screen and blinks, almost nervously as if the next words he'd say would define his fate. Not that it wouldn't.

He manages a soft nod at my cold stare. "On to it, boss, no major breach to be concerned of."

"Breach is a breach, minor or major." My jaw tightens, I fist my palms, raising to my full height. "And I pay you to make sure there's none, minor or major."

He gulps, focuses solely on the screen and before he can answer, Tania interrupts us, only to save him.

"Boss, you need to meet Mr. Patel." She reminds me of the dread yet to come with a tight smile.
