Chapter 70

Nova

Toni is doing his best to pretend like me being with his friend doesn't affect anything between us. Though, I can't say the same for Andres.

Toni won't even look in his direction when he is over. Andres tries to act like it doesn't hurt him, but I know it does. I can see it on his face every time he tries to talk to him and Toni ignores him. They are both hurting, and sometimes I wonder if I am being selfish.

It has been a couple weeks now and while everything between Andres and I has been smooth, I feel like it can't grow because of this weight between Toni and Andres.

As I was saying goodbye to Andres by the door Toni walks through and again completely disregards Andres. I give him a tight smile and after he leaves I follow the direction Toni went into the gym. 

"Oh hey Nova." He tries to say but I walk right past him.

"In the fucking ring Rizzo." I say.

"What?" He questions as I make my way in the center.

"Get the fuck in the ring." 

"What? No, I am not fighting you."

"Okay well I am fighting you, so get in the ring or worry about me fighting you with the surfaces around you."

"Nova, what is your problem." I scoff. As if he doesn't know.

"Not gonna say it again. Get in the ring. Maybe then you will find out." He looks around the room before looking at me and sighing. He rolls his eyes and makes his way over. 

When he is standing right in front of me we look at each other for a minute and then he tried to speak. "What is this-" Cutting him off I throw a punch into his gut. He doubles over coughing before quickly straightening up. "What the fuck-" I throw another punch this one to his jaw. He takes a couple steps back with his hand on his jaw.

"I gave you a few weeks. Okay. I understand. I promise you I do. I didn't want to hurt you Toni." I say and when it finally registers his eyes fall. "Andres didn't want to hurt you."

"Don't-"

"No-" I say throwing a kick at his back leg making him fall on one of his knees. 

"You got your time." I say standing over him. "It's my turn to be selfish." I say as I feel tears well up in my eyes. "I deserve to be selfish over one thing, and I am choosing this." I say and take a breath and back up. Toni slowly stands back up. "I don't care what you need to do to fix whatever it is between you and Andres but do it. Fucking take him into the ring like I did you, he would go willingly. And you know that." I say when I see his face. 

"Nova-"

"No. No more Toni. I don't ask much of you, hell I don't ask much of anyone. But Andres needs his best-friend, and even though I don't understand his friend choice, he does. And I can't stand to be the reason you don't talk to him. So please let me be selfish for once." I say, hating the sound of begging from voice.

"Come here" Toni says walking over to me and wrapping his arms around me. 

"Toni-"

"I'll fix it Nova."

"Thank you." I say sighing and hugging him back.

When we pull away he speaks. "I can't believe you fucking sucker punched me over your... boyfriend."

"You deserved it. You're lucky that's all I did. And was it realllly a sucker punch? I asked you to the ring, so you knew it was coming."

"Lorezno-"

"Lorenzo won't know shit because you would be embarrassed for everyone to know your younger sister beat your ass again."

"You didn't beat my ass, I didn't fight back." 

"Meh, tomato tomoto" 

He laughs before trying to ruffle my hair. 

"You do not wanna mess up my hair trust me, ask Jax. He will say don't take a hand out of his playbook. It never ends well."

"Whatever."

We step out of the ring and I go to pick up mu phone. As I leave the gym I turn to Toni one more time. "You better mean it. Fix it." I say before leaving.

And damn when I say it felt good.
