57. Gaining Attention

Subin and Jennifer stood faced against each other in the WAA arena.

Jennifer grinned, confident in her ability to defeat Subin who was known for being the only one defeated in their goodwill match.

"Let the match begin!" The dean announced the start.

Jennifer's power flared out immediately. "No need to drag this out, I'll end you quickly!" She launched an attack straight at Subin, a black sort of power with a hint of violet.

Subin dodged, moving to the side then dashed forward at Jennifer. She summoned an icicle dagger and leaped forward, slashing them around at her opponent.

'A close combatant!' Jennifer thought. She tried to dodge backwards, but was hit across her chest upwards her shoulder. Jennifer gritted her teeth, she stretched her arm out at Subin's opening, aiming an attack straight into the stomach.

"Ha!" Subin turned around midair, out of range. She landed back on her feet, launching back at Jennifer with her daggers. Subin got a few hits on her, cutting open skin here and there.

"Get the hell away from me!" Jennifer shot at the ground, breaking the floor into rumbles.

Subin dashed backwards, escaping the collision.

"Now that we've got distance, you're done for!" Jennifer grinned, once again she became cocky.

"Do you think she'll win?" Jiwoo asked, worried for Subin.

Subin wasn't close to having a major injury. Her opponent, on the other hand, had scars dripping blood slowly. However, she wasn't in her mind to be able to think, consumed by anger. Jennifer didn't have an advantage in both strategy and pure power.

Cale shook his head. "I don't think so. Her opponent's too emotional."

"Gosh. That mouth just keeps running nonstop." Subin sighed. "I was hoping to have some fun fighting you, but you're boring as hell."

Jennifer's eyes widened, veins appearing in them as her anger shot up. "Damn brat!" She opened her arms, creating a fiery blaze in between. Jennifer aimed her long ranged attack back at Subin again, charging up its destructive power. "Go to hell!"

Subin bent down, touching the floor with her hands. Her arms became frozen, spreading to the floor as a giant ice structure-like wall covered her front.

KABOOM!

Jennifer launched her attack, but was nullified by Subin's wall. 'She blocked my attack with an ice wall!'

Subin smirked. She slammed down on the ice, sending the wall into shards to attack Jennifer.

"ARGGH!" Jennifer fell down, stabbed by the ice shards.

"Lee Subin wins!" The dean announced.

"Thank god, she did it." Jiwoo was relieved.

'It was predictable.' Cale sighed, standing up from the bleachers.

"Where are you going?" Gangseok asked.

"Back to my room." Cale walked off.

"Have you decided yet, mr. Cale?" Garrith asked, meeting Cale in the hallway on his way back.

"..." Cale stared at the principal. "Yes. The answer is no." He walked past him.

Garrith scurried to his side. "Maybe you should reconsider our offer, we're not simply offering you wealth, we're offering you a position in our prestigious Luterain family." He tried convincing the calm-headed Cale.

'The original Cale Henituse already comes from a rich and prestigious family.' Cale thought. 'And I got all the wealth I'll ever need anyways.'

"I- I heard your classmate Lee Subin won against our high ranker Jennifer. It's an incredible feat, but not as bright as your win against our academy's top ranker Duke." Garrith resorted to flattery.

Cale stopped. "I don't know why you're so bent on getting me or my offspring, but sadly for you, that won't happen anytime soon." He was fed up with this guy's bickering. "I don't plan to get involved in the awakener world, nor having children with anyone."

Garrith stood there, sulking quietly.

"Dadd!!"

The kids came running towards Cale, along with the other two cats.

Cale flinched. "I thought I told you not to leave my room... why're you in your human form as well?" He whispered the last bit.

"D- did they just.. call you.. DAD?! You're a male?! A-and," Garrith shivered as his hand weakly pointed at the kids. "You.. had children.. already...?! When?!"

Cale sighed. "They're adopted."

"Oh." Garrith calmed down. He bent down on his knees, supporting his back with his hands. He grinned. "Do you kids want another brother or sister?" Garrith asked them, with an unintentionally creepy expression.

"Another sibling...?" They looked up, curious.

"If we get another sibling, I won't be the youngest anymore!" Raon cheered. "But I don't want human to.. do that..." He looked down, face hidden as an uncomfortable feeling spewed from him.

Ohn patted him on the bad. "Dad can just adopt another child, you know? Don't worry about it!" She reassured him.

Raon looked up, back to normal. "That's right! I almost forgot!"

Cale picked Hong up. "We're leaving." He bowed down to the principal. "And please, let my children stay in my dorm for the time of our visit."

"..It's fine." Garrith allowed them to be on campus. "But you should watch out for them, this place is dangerous for unattended children."

Cale nodded, finally leaving. 'I hope we don't meet again, I can't deal with another session of his bickering.'

They all stared straight into Jiwoo's innocent eyes, back in their dormitory lounge area. The kids held a meeting of their own.

"You're planning on challenging all of the top 10s?" Gangseok asked, stuck in disbelief.

Jisuk crossed his arms. "We can't let him win against us."

"You're right." Subin agreed.

"Hmph. I'm always right." Jisuk flipped his hair.

Pow!

Subin punched Jisuk in the guts. She got up, ignoring the guy. "Guess I'll have to submit my application." Subin walked outside the room.

Sucheon also got up, following her.

"Where're you going?" Jiwoo asked Sucheon.

Sucheon gritted his teeth. "To submit my duel request to the top 10 as well."

"Huh?" Jiwoo was confused.

Jisuk grinned, getting up from the couch. "Come on Cale, you too. We can't let Jiwoo get ahead of himself!"

"..It's alright, I'll stay out of this one..." Cale rejected his offer.
