60. The Attack

Cale had snuck above him unnoticed. During that moment, he charged an attack good enough to end the battle.

"The winner is Cale Henituse!" The dean announced, restoring the grounds to normal.

A medical team took Cain away in a stretcher.

Cale walked back to his team, still limping towards one side.

"Are you alright, Cale?" Jiwoo asked, worried for his injury.

"I'm fine." Cale shook it off. It wasn't like he was as injured as Sucheon or Wooin— "cough!" Cale spat out blood from his mouth.

"..."

"Cale!" Jiwoo shouted, panicking to help but to not much effect.

"Fine my ass." Jisuk scoffed.

"We should take you to the infirmary!" Subin suggested.

"I said I'm fine." Cale wiped the remaining blood off his lips with his sleeves. "It doesn't hurt."

They all looked at Cale pitifully.

Cale stared back, awkwardly.

"Why's it following you?" Gangseok asked, taking their attention away from Cale for a moment.

Jisuk turned around, "what is.." then he saw it.

Lancelot was stationed in front of Cale, sitting down like a good cat.

Cale froze. Why was it following him? And so patiently as well. He did injure its owner, so it shouldn't be so friendly...

"I think it likes you, Cale." Subin pointed out. "I mean, who wouldn't like Cale?" She clapped her palms into her cheeks, daydreaming. "He's the perfect person anyone could ask for!"

Jisuk shrugged, not attempting a comeback.

"Anyways," Subin grinned, "it's finally time for the heroine to take the stage." She confidently walked onto the platform.

"Begin!" The dean announced.

"Leah Eresby." Gangseok began retelling her opponent's background. "She's known for her dense shield, which can be used for protection over a large group."

Subin rushed at her, attempting to stab her ice daggers into Leah.

Leah blocked her attacks, forming a transparent shield around her.

"So you've got a shield, huh?" Subin spoke for the dramatic effects. "Then I'll just have to break it!" She formed a larger icicle mid-air.

Bang!

Leah's shield remained stable.

Subin continued attacking with the same strength, over and over again.

"But that alone isn't enough to make her one of the academy's top 10." Gangseok continued.

Subin flinched. She found herself being the one inside the shield.

Leah relaxed a bit, sighing.

"That fucking idiot." Jisuk cursed.

Subin was charging up her attack within the enclosure. If she released such a powerful attack there, she'll be the one to pay the price. Subin grinned, "who said I think while fighting?"

BOOM!

The battle was interrupted.

"What was that...?"
