54. Absurdity of Thoughts

"I want to meet with other strong awakeners like you guys." Jiwoo smiled. "And all my friends are also going."

The three kids were hanging out at Jiwoo's house, again.

"..."

Jisuk and Subin looked away, feeling a bit guilty. They had indirectly dragged Jiwoo into this harsh world.

"What about you two, Wooin and Cale?" Subin asked.

Wooin continued to slurp up his jjajamyeong without stop, unable to speak. While Cale was sleeping on the couch, buried in cats.

"They said if I went, they would also go." Jiwoo answered for them.

The two were also indirectly dragged into this. What a chain reaction.

"You guys don't have to go." Jisuk reminded them. "We're only going because we have no other way around, but you guys are different, you don't belong to an organization."

Wooin looked down with saddened eyes, like a silent puppy. Jiwoo sat there, mind out of the game.

"W- what's with the serious face all of a sudden?" Jisuk panicked.

"A- also! Since when did you have so many cats?" Subin changed the topic. "I think there's another one. You just keep getting more cats, how adorable!" She played with the more friendly cats.

Jiwoo sweated. "Actually, most of the cats are mr. Cale's." He awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "This one is also his." He motioned to the black cat sitting next to Cale's head, as if he was guarding him.

Jisuk and Subin stared at it for a good moment, a staring contest with a cat.

"I'm suspicious." Jisuk bursted out finally.

"What's wrong?" Subin asked. "Are you paranoid of a cat? I see how you treat them." She chuckled, mocking him.

Jisuk clenched his teeth, restraining his anger. "Well Cale has kids, but we don't see them here. Do you? And do you think he's the type of neglect them? He's always with his cats, but they look exactly like his kids as cats! Does that make sense?! Are his kids actually cats?!"

Subin was flabbergasted at his statements. "Are you crazy? How can humans be cats?!"

Kayden and Kartein sweated, averting their gaze.

Wooin raised his hand, they quieted down as they awaited for him to start. "I think Jisuk is being reasonable."

"The fuck are you talking about?!" Subin shouted.

Wooin looked down once again. "The kids we know are never here but when they're here, the cats are never here."

"..." Subin froze. "So.. you're telling me..." She turned to Cale, still sleeping. Subin hesitated.

"Wake him up, dumbass." Jisuk rushed Subin. "I need answers."

"You can get your answers another time!" Subin shouted. "Do you think I can possibly wake up the sleeping beauty?! That's a literal crime!"

"You've gone insane." Jisuk pushed Subin aside, moving towards Cale. "AAAH!"

Cale was awake, obviously due to the loud shouting from eariler.

Jisuk fell down to the floor with a thud. "You should've said something if you were awake..." He placed his hand on his chest, catching a breath. Jisuk could hear his own heart beat relax.

"HAHA!" Subin laughed at Jisuk, pointing at him and laughing off her ass.

Pow!

Jisuk punched her, straight in the stomach.

"You fucking bastard!" Subin fought back. "Why'd you do that?!" She kicked him back in the stomach.

"Ow! That hurts, you know?!" Jisuk scratched(?) Subin on the face. "You could've hurt my beautiful appearance!"

"Fuck your looks, you ugly like a racoon already!" Subin bit his arm. "You scratched my face! How am I supposed to go out like this?!"

"Then don't go out. No one wants to see you anyways." Jisuk flipped her off.

Subin clenched her fists. "You little..."

'I'm going back to sleep.' Cale left the room with all the cats trailing behind.

"Listen up." Inhyuk told the kids.

The list of exchange students and their assigned professors Inhyuk and Seongha were having a short meeting in the van that morning.

"We'll be arriving at the airport in 30 minutes, then we'll drive another hour to our final destination." Inhyuk was being very serious. "Please be careful. It's no longer a safe zone once we arrive at the airport."

Jisuk and Subin were munching on chips from Wooin loudly, disrespecting Inhyuk's brilliant speech.

"Jisuk." Inhyuk called out.

"What?!" Jisuk asked. He acted rude, but deep down he was scared.

"I'll be including your behavior in my report to the chairwoman." Inhyuk turned around, leaving.

"W- wait!" Jisuk reached out, too late.

"Pft." Subin held in a little laugh. "Looks like our Jisuk is afraid of his noona!" She mocked.

"Subin." Seongha called out this time.

"..." Subin went quiet.

Jisuk covered his mouth, although it did not cover his huge grin. "Look who's talking."

Subin clenched her fists, a vein appearing from her face. 'I'll beat that stupid grin off your face, fucker.'

'As if you can.' Jisuk responded back to her menacing glares.

After hours of traveling, they arrived at the World Awakened Academy. The former head of the Luterain family Garrith Luterain greeted them in his office, principal of this school, and although he wasn't a member of the top 10, he's still known to be extremely strong.

(A/N: Is Garrith a male or a female? He looks like a male, but he also gives off old granny vibes 🤨)

"It's nice to finally meet you all. I heard you defeated my students during their visit to your.. unregistered academy." Garrith greeted them. He turned to the students. "I was skeptical at first, but seeing you in person, I get it now." Garrith stared at them for a moment, letting the moment become tenser. "Which one of you is Cale Henituse?"

'Why is he asking for me?' Cale became anxious, what new ventures await him? "That's me." Cale responded.

"So you're the one with the abilities of a fox." Garrith spoke aloud.

'Since when was I a fox?' Cale thought.

'How many powers do you have?!' The others thought, having witnessed the silver shield and that powerful wind attribute. Now he also has the abilities of a fox?! It did explain why he had ears and a tail.. but having a bunch of powers was unbelievably difficult to master.

"You see.. my grandson is quite fond of making you his awakened animal." Garrith announced.
