(Kalston's POV)
Iris and I are in her tent in her room. She lays next to me as I read a book aloud. It's not the one I bought, but Peter Pan again. It's her favorite.
"Peter, do you ever wish you could fly?"
I put the book down, knowing that one question is never the last for her.
"Sometimes, but I think it would be more fun to have super strength. What about you? If you could have one super power, what would it be?"
"I think I'd want to fly. It would be fun. You could touch the clouds. What do you think they feel like?"
I laugh at the thought.
It would be fun to touch clouds.
"Fluffy and supper soft."
"You think? Maybe like a bunny? I don't think you could lay on them, though. You'd probably fall through, but it would be fun if you could."
"Yeah, it would be."
I yawn and realize how tired I am, but I don't want to go to sleep yet. Iris snuggles herself more onto my shoulder, and I get back to reading.
It's not much longer before Iris is out, and I'm lying beside her. We're going to sleep in the tent tonight. It felt like the safer option. Iris said it would keep the monsters out, and even though I'm not certain about it, I let myself believe it to be true. I need to.
