Riel, Alex, and Amber entered Seattle Grace-Mercy West.

"So," Amber asked as she texted on her phone. "Would it be cool if I hang out with Jon today? There is a movie we both were talking about seeing."

"What time?" Alex asked his little sister. He wasn't thrilled with the fact his little sister was dating. But, he was coming around to it.

He had firm ground rules, but he knew his little sister had to grow up. But, Alex, unlike their mother who never seemed to parent Alex, she never felt like she had to, since he was always so mature, and she felt guilty that he had to grow up faster than either Aaron or Amber, he wasn't going to let her go hog wild.

And, Amber, if she was secretly honest, she loved her mom, a lot, but she was never the parent-well, the reliable one-one for fun sure...but she wasn't consistent.

Sure when she was on her meds she was good, but she didn't know how to be the reliable parent. Amber remembered how difficult it was-Alex had been the main stable parent to her and Aaron. So, it was always hard when she tried to over rule Alex. And, honestly, her mom often forgot to take her meds, her longest stretch was about a year and a half.

It was nice to actually be the teenager and not the caretaker. Alex and Riel were like her mom and dad in many ways. Which made her feel guilty sometimes, because she loved her mom. But, she knew that her mom could never truly be her reliable parent. She loved her, she talked to her every day.

"Seven." Amber said. "It's a two hours and fifteen minutes, and before that we were going to get food at the food court. I'll be home long before my ten o'clock curfew."

Alex and Riel shared a look.

"You might not be able to tonight slugger, we have that big surgery today." Alex said, referring to the fact they were separating conjoined twins.

"He offered to pick me up." Amber said. "He just got his new car..."

"I don't know how I feel about that." Alex said.

"He's driven her before." Riel reminded her husband.

Alex sighed.

"Please?" Amber begged.
