AN: Happy New Year's Eve! Welcome to another chapter of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). I can't believe we are one chapter away (Unaccompanied Minor) from season 8! I will be focusing on this story until I get done with season 7, so this post and the next one! Don't worry I have not forgotten about my WTS book! I am just so ecstatic about finishing another season here!

And...shhh....a little spoiler, I think people already know, but Eddie will be chief resident. As much as I think April grew into her chief resident position, I just love Eddie to much to have April be chief!!!!! So I hope everyone is okay with that. 🩷🩷🩵🩵💜💜🤍😍🤩

We've all heard the same. It's one of those things we've learned in seventh grade science class. Adapt or die.

Eddie Sousa was nervous as she paced back and forth, almost tempted to write notecards for her talking points for her interview for chief resident. Eddie knew the position came with a lot of responsibility, but she always wanted it.
She was also trying to stay calm so she didn't spiral into a panic attack. That was the last thing she needed. Because, despite how worried she was, she knew she was good. If she listened to hospital gossip, the race for chief resident was her's to loose.
Eddie didn't put much stock in gossip. She wasn't going to coast because she was cocky. It wasn't her's yet. And even when it was, she could easily lose it to someone like Callie did, though Bailey was the better choice. You had to try your best and work hard, no matter how much she was a "shoo in".
And, interviews like this caused her anxiety to spike. Because, of what was on the line. Before every interview she had while trying to get into a surgical residency.
Mark came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Take a breath sweetheart." Mark said, "copy my breathing."
Eddie sighed as she relaxed into him, copying his slow, even, breaths.
"I have my meeting first thing today with Owen." Eddie said. "I am a nervous wreck. What if he doesn't chose me because he doesn't think I can be impartial enough? Or think someone else would be a better fit because I'm married to an attending."
"Well then, that should take Yang and Meredith out of the race too." Mark said. "I don't see Owen doing that..."
"Some of the residents do, claiming it's an unfair advantage that two of my brothers are attendings, my husband is an attending, and I have a brother-in-law who is also an attending." Eddie explained.
