The Day After the Shooting:

Eddie was in the kitchen dressed and ready to go for her family brunch, she had made coffee, and couldn't sleep after waking up at three in the morning, so she had a bunch of muffins, coffee cake, oatmeal bars, and scones made.

Eddie had also called her therapist so she could schedule some emergency therapy sessions, and her therapist who had been aware of what had happened, had no problem scheduling Eddie once a week for a while. Eddie was relieved.

She knew she wasn't okay. After yesterday who wouldn't be?

Things like that were not meant to happen. You always thought it would happen to anywhere else, but not here...not it a place you worked or lived. She wasn't even going to pretend she was okay.

One thing she would thank Constance for was insistence for her going to therapy because she was so "different". While it was probably ment to make her feel different. She was happy for the fact she had the tools she needed to know she wasn't okay. That she knew therapy did help.

"Oh no," Jackson said as he made his way into the kitchen when he saw the wide array of food. "Are you stress baking again?"

"It's just a bit of light baking." Eddie said, as Jackson raised a brow. If he sent a picture to Eli, he'd be worried, just as much as he was.

"Whoa...who robbed a bakery?" Israel asked as he looked around his brother's kitchen. He had slept like a rock, so exhausted he didn't even dream...which was good. Better than being haunted by nightmares.

After Skyping his mom, and assuring her he was fine, which she didn't buy, she was flying out later in the day after she moved some things around, Israel fell asleep in one of the most comfortable beds he ever slept on.

Honestly, he was glad Mark had insisted he'd stay for a few days...or as long as he needed. Israel wouldn't overstay his welcome, but it was nice to be around family again.

And, Frankie and Connor, his nieces, seemed excited their Uncle Jack and Uncle ReRe were staying for a few days.

He was Uncle ReRe. He had a brother, a sister-in-law, and two nieces. While he was still unsure about how this would go, he couldn't lie and say he wasn't excited to have a brother, he always wanted an older brother, Eddie is awesome, and he adored Frankie and Connor.

And, Mark's words rung in his head. His brother cared. And, honestly, he cared too. Mark was his older brother, and wanted to get to know him.

He just needed to take one day at a time.
