Part 9. Chapter 3. Opportunity

Moff Trevat Office.
In the afternoon, during the transference of Japan

Moff Trevat had now completed all of his work. He was just waiting for Governor Ira, who was still very busy, to finish her work. They would have dinner together as usual and then go home. Moff Trevat was currently relaxing on the sofa chair in his room, lying down while reading his padd to look through the information available while giving some opinions of the information provided.

Suddenly, Trevat felt the building he was in shaking. The vibration was not loud, but it lasted for a long time.

"Is there an earthquake?" asked Trevat while looking at the lamp hanging from the ceiling of his room, which was wobbling even though it was not that strong.

But after Trevat stood up, the shaking was not over. Even after Trevat waited, it was still not over.

"How can an earthquake last so long?" Trevat asked himself.

Suddenly there was an alarm blaring throughout the building, even as Trevat looked out the window, he could hear that there was an alarm outside the building as well.

"Why is there an alarm? If it's a small earthquake like this, surely it won't make the alarms throughout the city go off." Trevat said to himself.

By then the tremors had finally weakened, though not completely disappeared.

He immediately went to the door of his room to exit the room and enter the room of his supporting staff. At that time, the three main secretaries were not there.

"What's going on? Why are there alarms sounding everywhere?" Trevat asked his staff as he entered the staff room.

"We don't know either, moff. We're trying to figure out what's going on." Said a staff member.

The staff was either busy looking at the monitors on their desks or contacting others who might know about the incident.

"If this was a normal earthquake, why did it last so long? Even now, it's still somewhat felt." Trevat said as he looked at the glasses filled with drinks sitting on his staff's tables with the water still swaying.

"Right, moff. We're also trying to figure out why this happened." Another staff member said.

For a while, Moff Trevat just stood in the room, looking at the bustle going on.

"Moff, we got a report from one of our orbital assets. They have detected a massive energy field arising 1500 kilometers northeast of us." A staff member said. "We're waiting for more reports."

"Energy field? Isn't that area just open ocean? We've also mapped the seabed and found nothing unusual, right?" said Trevat.

"True, but for some reason there is an energy field there." The staff said.
