Part 8 Chapter 39A Attack on Magicaregia

Annorial Empire, Magicaregia
Emperor Zaratosthra's study

Early in the morning, Emperor Zaratosthra was already in his study. This was because he was anticipating any developments regarding the attack from the Myto Empire. Although it was still early in the morning, 8 am, the prime ministers of the Annonrial Empire, Hispastia Durum and Gesta, were already in his office. Everyone was carrying a stack of documents relevant to the Annonrial Empire's condition in facing the Myto Empire.

"Have there been any further developments? Where is the Myto Empire fleet?" asked Emperor Zaratosthra when they were all seated.

"We have mobilized the entire sea and air fleet to confront the Myto Empire, Your Majesty. According to the detection from the magic detector, they have entered our territory. They are currently only 100 km away from Magicaregia." The Prime Minister said.

"It appears that they possess a precise map of our territory, as they are rapidly approaching us. We detected their speed reaching 50 knots. In a few hours they will reach striking distance to Magicaregia. We have sent a fleet to deal with them, at least to hold them off until the rest of our fleet can gather near Magicaregia, including our Pal Chimera." Hispastia Durum said.

"How can their ships reach a speed of 50 knots?" asked Emperor Zaratosthra.

"Unknown, your majesty," replied Hispastia Durum.

"We also received a message from their embassy in HME asking us to unconditionally surrender to them before they attack Magicaregia." said Gesta.

This caused Emperor Zaratosthra to become very angry.

"Unconditional surrender? Are they crazy? We, the Annonrial Empire, as direct descendants of the Revernal Empire, are told to surrender unconditionally to barbarians?" asked Emperor Zaratosthra angrily.

"But they have already given evidence that they have very advanced technology, Your Majesty," said Gesta.

"Don't make things up! We have all their technology, too. Indeed, our technology may be less than theirs, but that is because we have developed it less because we have never faced such an opponent." said Emperor Zaratosthra.

No one wanted to contradict Emperor Zaratosthra's words.

"Do we need to evacuate Magicaregia?" asked Hispastia Durum.

"Why, haven't you already started deploying a fleet with modern ships?" asked Emperor Zaratosthra.

"Although we have deployed modern ships, they are still limited in number. I'm afraid we won't be able to fully withstand their attacks until our other ships can join them." said Hispastia Durum.

"Don't we have bullet of light homing defense around the capital?" asked the prime minister.

"That's right, and I've moved more bullets to the launchers near the capital, but there's still the possibility that they could penetrate our defenses." replied Hispasia Durum.
