Part 8 Chapter 44A Picking Up the Pieces

Annonrial Empire, Magicaregia
Command Train, enroute to secondary command center.

The train used in the Annonrial Empire is a steam train, but for the heat source they use magic stones that emit fire magic instead of coal or wood fuel. This causes the train to be lighter, streamlined, and able to carry more water, especially since most of the steam is condensed back into water. This makes the trains able to run long distances without filling up with water and faster.

Command train is a mobile command where 1 car is used as a command center, 1 car is used as a communication center, and 3 cars are used as accommodation, where 2 accommodation cars are armed for self-defense, plus 1 utility/cargo car. There are a total of 6 cars plus the locomotive on the train. They were moving at 80 km/h to their destination, the secondary command center.

They temporarily administered sedatives to Emperor Zaratosthra to prevent him from waking up and going berserk on the train. When they arrived at the secondary command center, they planned to wake Emperor Zaratosthra. He was placed with his wife in one of the accommodation cars. Emperor Zaratosthra's wife understood the situation after she was told why Emperor Zaratosthra had to be beaten and taken out of Magicaregia.

There were quite a few secondary command centers throughout the Annonrial Empire, the closest of which was located nearly 200 km from Magicaregia. Their destination was the nearest secondary command center. All command centers are reinforced bunkers and are always directly connected to the train tracks so that they can be evacuated or activated quickly. With a distance of 200 km, it takes almost 3 hours to reach.

Currently the prime minister of the Annonrial Empire, Hispastia Durum, and several military dignitaries from all branches of the Annonrial Empire military were in the command center carriage. They were listening to the report from the last train that was about to depart from Magicaregia's command center bunker.

"Sir, according to the reports coming in from our personnel still in the command center bunker, the enemy has started to attack the last door of the bunker. They have reinforced the nearest magic steel door with a magic shield so that it will slow down the enemy troops' movement. But as you know, the thickness of that door is much thinner than the main door," said a communications officer.

"Good, order them to leave immediately. We can't guarantee anyone's safety even after leaving the capital," said the prime minister.

"Yes, sir," said the communications officer, who then returned to the communications carriage.

"What should we do now? We have almost no military power," said a general.

"I don't know either. There's really nothing we can do. We are currently only delaying the inevitable," said Hispastia Durum.

"We will wait for Emperor Zaratosthra to issue the order. Only he can give the order to surrender or take other action. But there is already nothing we can do." The Prime Minister spoke.
