I bite my lip nervously as I look around. I know how strict Nigel is...Yet here I was. I was at a work party with a few of my friends. The work party that Nigel had strictly forbidden me from going to. My friends begged me to come along and we hadn't hung out in ages. I was desperate for a small getaway so I left without telling Nigel. Somehow he always knew where I was, and this time I had taken every liberty to hide my location. My friends had been talking to me, but I was too terrified to even think about fun.
"Y/N, he isn't here, calm down." Lani told me.
"He always finds me Lani! ALWAYS." I say looking around nervously.
"It's been an hour, you said he was out with some friends. He'll be back at 3 AM at the earliest." Amy says patting my back.
"Yeah, and if he hasn't noticed by now, he probably has no idea." Lani speaks again. I nod slowly feeling a bit better. They were right, usually when Nigel found anything out, he was here immediately, I tried to convince myself that he was having too much fun with his friends to realize I had gone anywhere. As the hours go by, I become a bit more at ease. I laugh and talk with my friends, finally having a good time.
"I'm gonna go over there, I need a break." I tell my friends pointing to a corner that is unoccupied. They nod and tell me they'll join me in a minute. I nod back and go stand over in the corner. I let out a breath happy to be away from the gaggle of people. I smile softly, i was actually having fun . I look out the window enjoying the view.
Suddenly... I feel a shiver go down my spine and I freeze. I spot a figure staring directly up at me from the dark parking lot. There's enough light shining for me to realize it's Nigel. His dark eyes stare up at me and I can feel his anger from where he is. My heart pounds in my chest and it's the only thing I can hear despite the loud noise from the party. My phone suddenly buzzed and I take it out looking at the text.
"You have 3 minutes to get home Y/N." The text reads. I gasp looking up. I manage to catch his sinister smile as he dashes off with inhumane speed into the building where I was. I don't hesitate dashing out the main lobby. I take off towards the back exit, running as fast as possible. However, I stumble seeing him stood there with an angry smile. I slide turning on my feet to run the opposite way. However, I hear his much quicker footsteps behind me.
"you'd better make it home before I catch you, baby." His accented voice says as he chases me. Adrenaline fills me as I kick off my shoes and run down the street. I take off faster than I've ever ran before. I look back see Nigel smiling widely, he wasn't even panting nor breaking a sweat. He was just... Smiling. "I'm gaining on you sweetheart." He shouts menacingly. I pant picking up speed and I'm almost crying at this point. "Shh Shh just make sure you get to the door and everything will be okay." He says creepily. I cry desperately as I see the house come into view. "You've got 10 seconds my love." I see his watch flashing in the dark. I feel myself quickly becoming exhausted, and I start to sob. I desperately speed up, my legs burning as I'm about a yard from the house. "5,4,3,2,1." He laughs menacingly as I trip onto the doorstep panting. I cry more as I crawl to the door.
He hugs me from behind shushing me. "You did so good Y/N. You made it right on time." He continues to hug and shush me.
"Why are you doing this?" I sob.
"Because... Because you didn't listen to me Y/N. When you don't listen there's consequences." He says softly.
"But it scares me." I say honestly.
"I wouldn't have to scare you if you did what I told you. There's rules for a reason." He tries to remain calm since he knew I won the game.
"I should be allowed to go out with my friends Nigel!" I whisper yell.
"You disobeyed me!" He shouts back. "And like I said, if you disobey me there's consequences. You blatantly ignored my no and went anyways."
"You can't just control me Nigel!"
"I can and I do. Get in the house... Oh yeah and your punishment is that you can't see your friends for 3 months." He states simply.
"You can't do that! I need them!" I scream out.
"You NEED me, and I'm all you need. Now go to bed." He says pulling me upstairs.
I shower and sit on the bed. Nigel walks over and kisses my head surprisingly gentle. "Y/N." He says softly.
"Yeah?" I murmur looking at him.
"You know I love you, don't you?" He whispers.
"Yes I know you do." I say softly.
"No one can love you better or more than I do." He speaks again. I nod slowly and uncomfortably which only makes him laugh. "I'll do anything for you Y/N. Anything except leave, because then who'd take care of you sweetheart. Don't worry, I'll be here forever. Always. Every second, every minute, every hour....Get some sleep Y/N." He says.
