Week passed, Felix's heart hasn't stopped fluttering after that day, but not because of what happened, because it's been so long since all of this happened, he couldn't hold back anymore.
One day, Seungmin, Jisung and Chan dragged him out from college secretly, not wanting Hyunjin to see them.
They all sat in Seungmin's cafe, sipping drinks. "So what are y'all up to?"
Jisung leaned closer to Felix, like he was some kind of detective, trying to find the truth. "That's enough Lixie." He muttered, his tone serious for some reason.
Felix frowned and looked at everyone, feeling like he did something wrong but he didn't know what either. "Huh?"
"It's time."
“So,” Seungmin said, not even waiting for his drink to cool down, “when are you gonna ask him out officially?”
Felix choked on his iced americano.
“Wh-What?”
Chan grinned from across the table. “Come on, mate. You guys are already acting like a couple. Might as well seal the deal.”
Jisung leaned in with his usual sparkle of chaos. “Just imagine it—roses, candles, dramatic confession at sunset—maybe some tears—”
Felix buried his red face in his hands. “You guys are insane. No!"
Seungmin shook his head. "You gotta do it before both of you run into conclusions." Felix rolled his eyes. "What conclusions, it's not like we're running after each other like cats and dogs.
Jisung tapped on table. "Think about it. If both of you stay quiet, Hyunjin might think you're not interested in him, so he'll go and find somebody else. Then you're gonna get angry and start: "i thought you didn't want me!" Shit and done!" Jisung mocked lix and sat back, sipping on his drink like he didn't just offend his friend.
"But-" Chan interrupted. "You have to try, at least." He said softly, but Felix wasn't satisfied. "Come on, you too?" He rolled his eyes and sighed heavily.
"Okay! Okay! Whatever! I know I'll ruin it anyways!" He threw his hands in defense mode and sighed when his friends just laughed at him.
"Come on, do you know how hard it is to get him to like somebody?" Seungmin encouraged. "Even after teacher begged him to participate this year, he gave up his place for you." He let words sink in. "He wouldn't do it for anybody. He did it for you."
_
The next day, Felix woke up early, nerves buzzing through his chest. The sky was soft and grey, a lazy morning kind of light pouring into his room.
He took his time.
He styled his hair, brushing his bangs up and away from his forehead. It still felt strange seeing that much of his face, but he liked it—it made him look a little older. Like someone who could confess something serious.
His sweater was a pale grey, soft and oversized, sleeves falling over his knuckles. Paired with his favorite oversized jeans and worn sneakers, he looked exactly like the version of himself he wanted Hyunjin to see—comfortable, open, soft.
He grabbed his tote bag and headed out.
He went to the same little art shop he always passed but never dared enter. Today, he stepped inside, the scent of paper and paint welcoming him like an old friend.
He picked out a new painting set—one of the fancy ones, the kind with sleek brushes and pigments that shimmered just slightly. It was expensive, and it would mean saving less for a while, but Felix didn’t care.
Then he went to flower shop, picking out the blood red roses, 20 of them. He went to cashier and bought them. Woman smiled at him warmly. "Thank you." "You're welcome." She answered.
Felix looked down at gifts and smiled to himself, even if he had no more savings, he was proud that he managed to get everything he wanted.
He knew Hyunjin had lot to do today so he wouldn't be back until evening.
Once he reached their place, he placed Flowers on table, putting gifts right next to it. Nodding to himself. Perfect, he told himself and sat down, sighing.
He waited.
And waited.
He checked his phone million times, but nothing came, no messages. He calmed himself down, telling himself repeatedly that he would be back this evening and he was just anxious.
Sun slowly started to go down, sky painting in purples. His leg wouldn't stop bouncing, taking a glance out of window every second like Hyunjin would just appear there.
He finally grabbed his phone.
U ok?
When are you coming back?

Lix leaned towards table, grabbing flowers which started to dry.
His fingers curled around the plastic wrapping. His shoulders dropped.
Maybe something happened.
Maybe Hyunjin got caught up in something. Or forgot. Or...
Felix swallowed. He didn’t want to assume the worst. But he also couldn’t ignore how heavy the silence felt.
Should i ask Seungmin?
Should i call Jisung to come?
He had enough, his hands were turning cold from how anxious he was so he just called Jisung.
"Hey... Uhm... Can you come over?"
"Why?"
"Hyun, he's not answering." His voice broke little, but he didn't want to cry, not now, not ever.
"Huh? What? O-okay I'll be there in 15 okay? Don't be nervous."
Jisung slid phone in his pocket and chuckled. "Maybe my plan is actually working?"
_
Felix heard the knock on door, his heart doing flips. He jumped from couch and opened it.
Jisung.
"It's me don't get too excited." He teased and stepped inside. "It's getting dark, where is he?"
Jisung glanced at the untouched gifts, the wilting flowers, the unopened painting set. He looked back at Felix and his teasing faded, concern softening his expression.
"Okay. Let's not panic yet," he said gently. "Maybe he's just... caught up somewhere." Jisung said, more like to himself because he was getting nervous too.
Felix nodded, sitting down again, staring at the door like it owed him answers.
Jisung sat beside him, quiet for a moment.
"You did a good thing, you know," he murmured. "Even if he doesn't show up tonight... this? This still means something."
"Is he ghosting me?" Felix asked softly. "N-no? Why would he?" Jisung frowned. "It's not like he's the player yeah?"
"Lix." He continued. "I'll wait here with you okay? It's not like I didn't want to see this in the first place." He smiled reassuringly.
"Yeah, let's wait..."
To be continued...
