They layed tangled up in each other, all naked in white bedsheets as always. Hyunjin ran his long slender fingers over Felix's small back, while blonde rested his head on Hyunjin's chest.
"Never leave me like that ever again." He whispered.
"Hm? Like what?" Older asked, confused.
"Like you weren't coming back anymore..." Felix whispered back, his voice breaking.
"But Lix..."
"Hm?"
"I got shot remember?"
"Huh?" Felix looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Wake up, baby."
_
Blonde opened his eyes, morning light woke him up. Sky was still grey, dark and cloudy. He rubbed his eyes, dry and red.
Funeral day.
He never wanted this day to come, never. He tried to avoid it but he had to face the truth.
He did everything on autopilot, brushed his teeth, washed his face, he wore black blaze Chan had brought for him, he didn't even look at himself in mirror knowing how bad he looked.
He'd been smoking. Alot. Like so much.
Chan was waiting outside in his car. Felix sat inside without saying anything.
_
When they arrived, the crowd had already started to gather. Black coats. Sunglasses hiding swollen eyes. The smell of rain and lilies. The casket stood at the front, draped in white, surrounded by flowers—Hyunjin’s favorite, Felix noticed.
His legs moved on their own, following Chan down the aisle. He didn’t even hear the whispers around him, or the distant sound of someone crying. All he could hear was the dull roar in his own ears. Like the ocean. Like the end of the world.
When he saw the picture—Hyunjin’s smile frozen in time, framed beside the coffin—it hit him like a second bullet.
He dropped to his knees.
Hands trembling.
Everyone was there.
Their friends, college students, family. But he didn't care. He rested his head on casket as he stared at Hyunjin's calm face, tears rolling on his cheeks.
"Wish i told you everything sooner, wish i could gift you the best memories like you did to me..." He sniffled, his voice pained.
_
The priest’s voice echoed softly as the ceremony began, reading a prayer that barely reached Felix’s ears. He couldn’t look away from the casket—white flowers gently resting on top, petals trembling with the wind like they knew this wasn’t right. Like they didn’t belong on something meant to be buried.
As the pallbearers prepared to lower the casket, a collective breath was held. The sky, heavy and brooding, finally opened up. Rain fell slowly, mournfully, soaking through coats and hair, but no one moved.
Hyunjin’s mother broke first.
She let out a sob that tore through the quiet like thunder. Her knees buckled, and her husband caught her just in time, his own face streaked with tears.
“No—no, not my baby… not my Jinnie…”
Felix’s heart shattered all over again.
Sana cried too, arms wrapped around herself, her mascara bleeding down her cheeks as she watched the coffin begin its descent.
