Fate DxD Vol.18 Chapter 100

Thursday, May 4, 2023.

It's late at night, and Inaho, Haruko and I are patrolling the campus, as requested by Akaya-sensei in a hurried manner.

"Hmm... I do wonder why he asks us to patrol so late." I think out loud, walking at the same pace as the girls. "And then it's strange to ask us to get everyone home.... Akaya-sensei was really sudden."

"Yes, it sounds a bit fishy..." Haruko confirms, twirling her hair around her index finger.

"Maybe they're planning a secret event for tomorrow!" Inaho exclaims.

"Oh I see! That must be it!" Haruko is pleased with this explanation.

While the two girls chat, I look around us to see if there are any students left on campus. Suddenly I see Kurigasa on the ground, trying to get up. I immediately run over to him, which makes Inaho and Haruko jump.

"Kurigasa-san, what's with all the injuries?" I crouch down next to him, seeing this behemoth covered in wounds isn't reassuring at all.

"Hu... Who... knows..." He said weakly, hiding his face.

"What's going on?!" Haruko and Inaho run towards us, surprised. "Ah... Kurigasa-san!"

"All's well!" I say, turning to them. "Sorry for raising my voice, but he seems fine so let me handle it. Can you bring Aki-sensei here? I think she's still here."

"But..." Inaho wants to say something, but she's cut off by Haruko.

"Let's go Inaho-chan!" She said, heading for the infirmary.

"...Yes..." Accepted Inaho, confused.

I watch the girls leave, then turn to my comrade, having succeeded in sitting down. His back is to us, his head bowed. Kurigasa has great pride, and showing himself weakened and defeated is a sign of humiliation for him. Fortunately, Haruko understands this, being a seasoned fighter herself.

"Let's not make a big deal out of it!" He said with resentment.

"Don't say that." I say curtly. "I understand."

"...I... I don't want to be seen like this!" His voice cracks. He turns his back to me but I know he's crying.

A few minutes later, Aki-sensei is finally here. She examines Kurigasa and concludes that he needs to go to the infirmary for treatment. But before she leaves, she turns to me and looks me up and down, before frowning.

"Everything all right, Senji? Nothing to report?" she asks.

"It's all good, don't worry." I reassure her. "Take care of Kurigasa, have a good evening."

"Have a good evening youngsters, see you tomorrow!" She exclaims, pleased with my response. "Come on Kai-san, I'll take care of you."

"He looks fine at first glance, but his bones and intestines are severely affected." Haruko remarks. "Why does he continue to act pretty despite everything?"

"Because he's a guy!" Smile Inaho.

I watch Kurigasa and Aki-sensei leave, wondering who could have inflicted so many wounds on him, when suddenly a huge barrier is erected around the school, completely blocking access to the outside.

(I recognize this barrier... The Finnian sisters?! What's going on?)

"What's going on vice-president?!" Azuki asks, running over to us. "There's a barrier enveloping the whole school!"
