I can see the house through the forest, and I'm going on and on, when suddenly I see two people I don't recognize, with Tsunami between them, her hands tied behind her back. Then Inari runs after them, using all his courage. The two men draw their swords, ready to slice the child.
I charge my magic circuits, propelling myself into the air and destroying the branch I was standing on. I project a blade and throw it between the two strangers and Inari, which surprises and stops them. They both look at me, mocking me.
"Ah! You missed and on top of that you're going to fall in the river! Talk about a failure!" Exclaims the shirtless guy, hanging his tongue.
I concentrate my magic circuits, connecting to my blade and swapping places. I crouch down and thrust my right leg towards his jaw. The blow is so swift that he doesn't have time to see it, breaking his jaw and being sent tumbling, falling close to Tsunami.
"What the?!" His colleague couldn't believe it. "You little brat! Who do you think you are?!"
He swings his sword at me, trying to cut me in two. [BOOST] I summon my gauntlet and catch the blade, stopping it in its tracks. I cover my right fist with a layer of energy and strike him in the face, knocking him out instantly.
"Phew... Sorry I'm a little late." I tell them, tossing the blade into the water.
"Senji!" Inari exclaimed. "How did you know the samurai were here?"
"Crossing the forest, I saw a boar being tortured with a katana, and the footprints were heading this way." I release Tsunami's hands, and she takes her son in her arms.
"Thank you very much Senji..." She bows her head in gratitude.
"It's only natural." I turn to Inari. "Inari, I apologize for last night. I came on a little strong, when it gets personal, I find it hard not to get upset, please forgive me." I put my hand on his head. "You were very brave, sure it was stupid, but you did what you thought was right, you're strong."
I take my hand off his head and turn to his mother, who gives me a big smile. I'd like to give it back to her, but I can't.
"Damn!" Inari exclaims.
I turn towards him to see him crying his eyes out, trying to wipe them away but the tears keep falling without stopping.
"I swore I'd never cry again... You're going to call me a crybaby again..." He said.
"...Not at all."
A vivid, recent memory resurfaces. Rias taking me in her arms, holding me close.
"These are tears of joy Senji, so cry all you want, just let them out."
"You can cry when you're happy." I tell him sincerely.
He looks at me, surprised, then starts crying again, unable to stop himself.
"Tsunami-san, you wouldn't happen to have a long rope, would you?" I ask, pointing at the two unconscious men.
"Oh yes, Dad must have some, I'll get you some, come and give me a hand Inari." Tsunami gets up and heads into the house, closely followed by Inari.
Once the rope in hand, we tie the two samurai together back to back, blocking any possible movement.
"If samurai have come here, it's certain that there's also an attack on the bridge." I declare, which terrifies Tsunami, putting her hand in front of her mouth. "I'll leave you to keep an eye on those two."
"All right!" Inari exclaims, wiping away his tears.
"Senji!" Tsunami grabs my arm. "Take care of yourself, everybody get home safe."
