"I'm surprised you didn't lose." Brent comments to sam, apparently the boys had missed and important game and had actually won without Brent and Todd. Me and Katie were partly to blame for the fact the boys weren't there, we were a bit if a distraction. Not that the boys even really cared about the fact that they missed out on the game, they seemed pretty chill about all of it.
"What do you mean surprised?" Sam says with an edge on his tone as he picks at his food. The moment me and Brent had walked in the school holding hands you could basically see the smoke coming from his ears and nose. I imagined his hair setting on fire too or I guess he looked like one if those bulls going to charge.
"It's just that you didn't have me and Todd, so I just thought you'd struggle." Brent says innocently, I know he's not trying to fire sam up but he's doing an excellent job at it.
"Why would we struggle without you, we did just fine." Sam says sternly as he points his gaze at Brent who's not even looking at him but checking out his food. That's when we all fall into silence once again. I gaze around the cafeteria, it's actually pretty calm today. No food fights, no really loud tables, no giggling girls and no loud obnoxious guys. It was actually quite peaceful.
All day (which had only been the first two periods of school, but already felt like forever) girls had been giving me dirty looks. It was amazing how fast news spreads because already basically everybody knew about me and Brent. Taylor, Jessica, the cheerleaders and Mark especially were the ones giving dirty looks. But who cares there just jealous and they were not getting him, ever. Full stop. It was also funny because Brent was getting a lot of dirty looks from the guys and I didn't even realise any of them liked me.
"So will you be trying out for the cheerleaders Georgia?" Katie asks and I nearly choke on my food. Is she serious, since when have I been interested in cheerleading. Prancing around with Pom poms before and after football game in dresses that may as well be a T-shirt. Not my thing.
"Are you serious?" I ask her as I tear my gaze away from my food to look at her.
"What? It's just your athletic and could seriously smash those little stuck up girls butts!" She says a little too loudly. "And plus Brent plays football." She adds playfully wriggling her eyebrows.
"So?" I ask knowing that Brent won't be taken back by this, I mean I would come watch his matches anyway. What's the difference?
"So, you should try something new." She says this dramatically and out of the corner of my eye I can see that Todd is staring at her mesmerised, poor thing.
"Be social, fun, more popular and plus your best friend is trying out." She adds with a wink, sometimes I wonder who my best friend is?
"But why? Those girls are mean and selfish and all they care about is there hair and makeup." I think about adding and getting Brent's attention but I don't because he's taken.
"Yeah your basically throwing yourself into a world of drama." Brent adds. Drama? No more like torture, actually worse. It's basically suicide.
"I don't think it's the best idea Katie." I say honestly, as if I haven't got the message across yet.
"Fine then." She huffs and then I see the clocks turning in her head.
"What?" I ask as her expression changes.
"What about another sport?" She asks. Ugh! Couldn't she just give up! No, she wasn't one too give up.
"Like what?" I ask curious too what she might come up with.
"Netball!" She says triumphantly. I just shake my head, I'd rather be a cheerleader.
"Ballet?" A shake of the head again.
