Ekantha stood near the tulasi plant, her figure known and visible. Sunlight streamed through the open gaps of the terrace grill and warmed her in gold tones. The rich mustard-cream saree, which was rooted, rich and dignified, flowed over her shoulder like a river she had bathed in. The jasmine flowers danced in her braid as the wind curled slightly. As she flicked her pleats of the saree, it rustled, and her bangles clinked again each other.

He didn't say a word. He couldn't.

Not because he didn't have words but because none of the words even remotely seemed to stand for what was in front of him.

She briefly looked up at him and their eyes locked momentarily. Half a second. But it ignited something between them. She didn't smile. Nor did he.

Some silences don't need to be filled, they become the story.

"Kanna, come downstairs. They are looking for photos before the pooja," his grandmother called from inside, gently filling the air.

Ekantha's head nodded once as she finished adjusting her pallu.

"I'll go get the camera," Abhi said a bit rough than usual.

They didn't walk downstairs together, but they both arrived at the same moment and time.

"Kanna, both of us need to go first and cover some quick photo session. Ekantha, you, Kanyaka and Thatha come after a while",her grandmother said to which she nodded.

Both of them were walking outside the home and Abhi halted for a second. He turned around and looked at Ekantha unsurely trying to match her eye contact.

"What's wrong, Anyu? Did you forget something?",she asked.

"No..I..I have so much to tell yet I am so in loss of words. Can I just---- Can I just kiss you once?",he asked after stammerig like a million times.

"I mean..I don't know-",before she could continue they heard her grandmother call for him.

"That's okay, we'll see after coming home then",he said and just took two steps, she held his hand stopping him.

"Yes",she said making him smile in surprise.

"Are you sure?",he asked to which she nodded still not meeting his eyes.

He held her hand and gently lifted her head with another hand and looked at her, a million stories hiding behind those eyes which were adorned with kohl now making them the prettiest eyes that he has ever seen.

He just pressed his lips on her forehead, for about a minute as she closed her eyes and he just moved a bit away from her still unable to move his gaze from her.

"You look like some divine beauty, Ammu. I'm just unable to move my eyes away from you, you have given me a tough task today. It'll be difficult to capture anything else when such a beauty is roaming infront of my eyes. I'll try my best to, wish me luck please",he asked as a red shade of hue spread her cheeks.

She playfully hit his arms first smiling and then took a step towards him almost leaving no space between them.

Holding his face in her hands, she slightly tiptoes as he bends down for her. Confusion and surprise still written all over his face.

"May I?",she asks and he just nods as she gently presses her lips on his forehead and lets them linger there for a minute which almost felt like less than a second for Abhi.

He was completely taken back, never even in his wildest dreams he expected something like this to happen.

"All the best, Anyu! I know you will do good, just give your best",she said and slowly let go of his face moving back and turned to leave from there before he could even say something.

Another call from Ekantha's grandmother and he rushed outside trying as much not to let the big smile make him look creepy.

"Sorry, bammagaru. I was just checking last minute things",he said and both of them quickly went to the temple on the scooter.
