Wei Ying puts the tray down and races out of the bedroom. He was only gone for maybe five minutes, ten, tops, and in that time, where could a drunk Lan Zhan go?
Lan Zhan was thirsty, and he probably still is, so maybe he's gone searching for water himself? Even if Wei Ying told him he was getting some for him, what if Lan Zhan decided to follow him? Only his drunk brain might've guided him along a different route. Perhaps someone else has seen him? Wei Ying fervently hopes so, tripping down the steps that he'd just climbed, twice if he's counting hefting his husband up them in the first place.
He crashes into his brother of all people, who catches him and holds him in place, quickly looking past him for a certain someone, and when he doesn't see Lan Zhan, Jiang Cheng visibly relaxes.
"Have you seen Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying splutters out, still kind of panicking about it.
Jiang Cheng goes all tense again as if Lan Zhan's name is all the trigger he needs to explode.
"No." He narrows his eyes at Wei Ying. "Don't tell me you've already lost him? What was that, five minutes?" He shakes his head and yells for his sister. "A-Jie! Wei WuXian lost his husband!" He bellows that with glee as Wei Ying's face gets redder out of embarrassment.
"He's here," Jiang YanLi calls out.
Wei Ying pushes past Jiang Cheng with a little more force than necessary as his brother laughs behind him, hurrying back into the room where this mess started. Jiang YanLi is holding a cup of plain water to Lan Zhan's lips and helping him drink, a task that Wei Ying takes over as soon as he enters.
"Wei Yimg!" Lan Zhan looks delighted to see him, making grabby hands for Wei Ying to come and sit next to him. As soon as he does though, Lan Zhan slides into his lap as if it's the only thing he's ever wanted in his life, and now he's got it. He's the happiest guy ever. He leans even closer, wrapping his strong arm around Wei Ying's waist and leaning his head against Wei Ying's neck, humming contently as he sips from the glass held at his mouth.
"You're so cute, Zhan Zhan," Wei Ying coos at him, completely gone for his husband.
Jiang Cheng makes gagging noises as he plants himself next to Jiang YanLi. Wei Ying ignores him but Lan Zhan's side-eye could kill a lesser demon.
"Success is a journey, not a destination," Lan Zhan tells him seriously, adding his signature glare.
"What. The. Fuck!?? What?" Jiang Cheng blusters, totally nonplussed at that. "Wei WuXian! What does he mean by THAT??"
"A-Cheng, he's plastered. Don't worry about it," Jiang YanLi reminds him. "But I'm glad you're here," she glances at Wei Ying and a warm smile dances around her lips. "Earlier you mentioned wanting to have a reception for your marriage-"
"Married?" Lan Zhan interrupts, looking at Wei Ying. "Wei Yimg is married?" His bottom lip juts out and trembles, and his lovely golden eyes grow wide and wet with disbelief and longing.
"Yes, to you, Sweetheart," Wei Ying reassures him and strokes his hair. He kisses Lan Zhan's cheek for good measure and then turns his attention back to his sister. "Jie-Jie, what about it?"
"When were you thinking about holding the event?"
"Well, it could be any time now, seeing as Lan Zhan's brother has tied the knot. Well, knots," Wei Ying snickers. "We want to marry publicly as soon as possible but at the same time, A-Zhan said it's not great to do it straight after."
"Mn." Lan Zhan nods his head too fast in agreement and accidentally makes himself dizzy.
"Human thing?" The siblings ask, innocently.
