Once inside the Jingshi, Lan Zhan turns to Wei Ying. He looks frazzled, lips red and puffy, his beautiful silver eyes sparkling for once, and Lan Zhan is reminded of the boy he fell in love with, all those years ago. He wishes he had been brave enough to kiss that Wei Ying then, and he wonders how that might have changed things. Not just between them, but also for Wei Ying. Would circumstances have allowed Wei Ying to keep his core? But perhaps not. Wei Ying is loyal to a fault, and he still would have done anything to save his stupid, ungrateful, ignorant brother.

“Lan Zhan? My love, why are you crying?” Wei Ying moves towards him in a heartbeat, his warm palm cupping Lan Zhan’s cheek. His thumb traces away the moisture rolling down them and Lan Zhan has to blink his tears away.

“I wish I had acted on my feelings back then.” It is an admission from the heart.

“Oh, my love, I absolutely agree! Kissing you…who knew it could feel like that!” Wei Ying laughs, bright and happy, his starlight eyes crinkling up with joy.

But Lan Zhan is confused. “Wei Ying hasn't kissed anyone?” It's more of a demand to be answered than a question out of just curiosity.

“No? But I can learn! Did I disappoint you?” Now Wei Ying looks uncertain and Lan Zhan isn't having that.

He pulls Wei Ying closer, holding his face delicately, not wishing to spook this beautiful man. “Wei Ying, you can never, ever disappoint me. I love you. I just thought you might have more experience than I in matters of love. That was my first kiss.”

“Wow.” Wei Ying grabs his wrists, holding his hands there. It feels so good. “My first kiss too. I was saving it for someone special. And I'm glad I waited.” His cheeks redden as he adds, “Nobody is more special than my Lan Zhan,” and he looks giddy with joy and delight. “But how come you thought I'd be more experienced?”

“Wei Ying flirts all the time.” Lan Zhan can't meet his eyes when he says this. Drinking vinegar on the daily is so easy when it comes to this man.

“That's just being nice to people. I don't mean it in that way, Lan Zhan.” Wei Ying sounds subdued. “I'm sorry if it gave you the wrong impression because I've never meant it with anyone but you. I really wanted you to look at me. I want your attention on me, all the time. Sometimes, it feels like I'll die without it!” His eyes are shining so brightly, Lan Zhan is mesmerised by him.

“You have it,” he mumbles, unable to stop himself.

This kiss begins wild, there's no in between here as Lan Zhan takes everything he has, everything he is and pours it into Wei Ying. All of his love for this one man who stole his heart so long ago, it feels like a different time and place. He can feel Wei Ying’s pounding heart right next to his, as he meets him with every lasting kiss. Their lips match, suck and bite, little nibbles that drag the most obscene noises from those pink, plush lips and Lan Zhan knows he'll do anything to hear these sounds again and again. The delicate fragrance of lotus flowers fills his nose and he's captivated by the experience, lost to his senses.

Wei Ying can't know where this desperate need comes from but he's matching it, kiss for kiss. He feels untethered, as if he'll fly away if Lan Zhan won't hold him down. His heart is flying on adrenaline, and if it wasn't caged inside his ribs, he has no doubts it would have burst out of his chest by now and gone to live inside his lover. He shivers at the next onslaught of kisses, each one more sweeter than the last, tinged with a fervent desire. The scent of sandalwood surrounds him, and he realises that he associates this heady aroma with safety and love, and Lan Zhan through and through.

“Lan Zhan,” he gasps, dizzy with love and whatever this is. “We…we could've been doing this ages ago…”

“Mn.” Lan Zhan bites his neck experimentally and it produces a moan that he's instantly addicted to. He licks over the sensitive skin, his hands itching to bare more.
