I still had more questions to ask Jane but it would have to wait because by now my face was covered in bandages. Everything I said came out muffled. So I spent the night in the hospital where they changed the bandages every two hours because my face was bleeding a lot. They let me out the evening the next day when my swelling and bleeding had gone down enough for me to go home. After hopping up the stairs again Jane and I sat on my bed and we started talking just where we left off.
"The policeman told us to leave the area. And they wanted me to go with them but since Mr. Morris had previously worked in Child protective services they trusted him to supervise me. So when I woke up Mr. Morris was standing over me looking at me. For a moment I got really scared and I didn't know where I was and then Mr. Morris soothingly told me what had happened. Of course my mom had been arrested for child abuse and they said it would probably be best if we left the area for a little while. He didn't tell me at the time but they gave him money to pay for all of my expenses. And so we lived in that hotel for a week or two and then we went back to his house. It was okay except for his broken window from diving out to catch me. And then with him being a lawyer he won me over in court. I went to school there till I moved here because he got a better job opportunity. And now we have you! Another part of our crazy life."
"Wow, I don't know what to say. I am still in shock."
"Well we should go to sleep I bet you are worn out from these past few days."
"Yeah I am kind of tired." At the hospital the pain killers made me tired so I didn't really know when I was going to sleep so this was my first time actually sleeping, sleeping since my dad attacking me. And man it did not go good.
