A/N It saddens me to tell you that this is the last chapter until the epilogue. Thank you to all of my readers this is my first actual book. Keep on surviving.
Jane and I got into a conversation over what had happened the past few days, she was the only one I felt that I could tell what happened. She of course listened intently. She started telling me about what had happened to her and how they had been able to fully remove the infection through surgery and she was completely healthy. I got so caught up in the conversation that I didn't see that Nicola and Mr. Morris had left the room. As she finished telling me about the surgery. I glanced out the door window in the hospital to see Nicola and Mr. Morris stood hugging. I could see Nicola's face facing the window, and I could see the tears running down her face.
"Jane take a look at that!" I said as I pointed out the window. Jane looked over, shocked to see her fathers shoulders so relaxed. I sat in the bed thinking as Jane stared at them. Did Mr. Morris still want me? Did he care only did he only come because he had too?
They stood there hugging for another two minutes until they released, wiped their eyes, and then started talking. We couldn't hear them but we knew they were discussing something of high importance because they stiffened their stance and had the straightest faces I had ever seen after a tearful hugging.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Jane whispered still staring through the window.
"Who knows. They're siblings she said she had a brother named Bobby. Her last name is Morris. Do you know her?"
"I have never seen that woman in my life."
"Well she is technically your aunt."
"Yours too. He is your dad too."
"Jane I have to tell you something." She turned to me ready to listen. "When it was my time to leave the hospital he said he couldn't care for me with you being sick and everything." I started sniffling. "I am too much of burden he doesn't want me. I have caused him so many problems."
"You need to get out of your head he was tired, he was stressed. I was about to go through surgery to remove the infection. He just needed some help. He wouldn't have called for help if he didn't want you. You aren't a burden you are the best thing that ever happened to him and me. He was happier than I had ever seen him in a long time with you here."
"I don't know we'll see if he still wants me when they come back in the room." With that me and Jane turned back to the window to see them walking in.
"Well sweetie the nurse gave us the papers to sign you out you're all good now let's go home." Nicola said.
"Home? As in your home too?"I questioned.
"Well sweetie my and your dad talked it over and since I am just living in an apartment and he has an extra room I might as well move in and help with you girls. It sounds like you are handfuls. And it will be nice to hang out with my brother after he disappeared and I haven't seen him in three years." She answered.
"Nicola I already apologized I'm sorry I just couldn't stand mom and dad in that town anymore. I forgot to call and I thought you would be busy with college." Jane and I stared at each other in silence we had no idea what they were talking about. Noticing our confused look they went on to explain.
"Nicola and I were victims of child abuse also." He said. Jane and I nodded in understanding and we knew there was a bond between the four of us that was very special.
"But wait what about my 'grandma'?" I asked when she suddenly came to mind.
"She's just a friend of mine. I asked her to pretend she was your grandma because I didn't have the time or energy to explain my past at the time."
I nodded understanding the stress he was put under.
"Alex I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry for acting the way I did before. I love more than you could ever know. I want you to live us still." He said looking me straight in the eye.
I smiled and jumped out of bed hugging him I knew he was sincere. I was so excited to be somewhere I belonged again. With that they checked me out of the hospital and Jane, my dad, and me all jumped into a rental car, and Nicola got in her car to go home and pack.
When we got home I turned on the local news to see a news story about my "dad". "Local menace caught. After beating his daughter and losing a court case David Jones was finally caught yesterday, by local police. This has truly destroyed this mans life. His wife divorced him and gained custody of their son, left the state and put her son in a private school to help with his needs." With that I shut off the tv that was all I needed to know, my brother was getting the help he needed.
I went up to my room and just laid on my bed. It had been a rough road but everything had worked out for the better. I was truly happy.
