"Dad I have to tell you something and I need you to listen and not talk until I get done. Okay Dad?"
" Okay Pumpkin what's on your mind?" Jane started talking a mile a minute. I could tell she was really nervous. I started inching to the top of the stairs being very careful not to let the floor creak.
"Dad I met this girl at school today and she is very nice. And-"
"You made a friend!" Her dad interrupted.
"Dad I told you not to talk till I was finished."
"Sorry. Go on."
"Well Dad she got kicked out of her house and now she is going to stay here. That is if it is okay with you." Her dad was in shock. His jaw was on the ground. He looked like he had stopped breathing. I was scared that he was going to kick me out, none of my family lived any where near and I had no other friends where would I go? But her dad's response was far different than what I expected "She got kicked out of her own house? Who would do that to a child? Of course she can stay here."
"She can!" Both me and Jane started jumping for joy and that was when he saw me.
