As I turned over in the bed I caught a glimpse of the clock and it read 3:30. I looked out of the window to see that it was pitch black. Great 3:30 a.m. I realized I was still tired and I tried to go to sleep but the frantic lady was persistent. She came to the other side of the bed dragging the chair with her and I noticed that she had beautiful green eyes, almost the same Mr. Morris'.
"Now honey I'm not going to leave you alone until you tell me how you ended up on the side of the road." She was thin and beautiful, dressed like someone from the city, but she had a thick southern draw. I knew I needed to tell her how I ended up in the ditch but the words kept getting stuck in my throat. I couldn't even tell her that I fainted on the side of the road so I laid there and weeped until I couldn't remain conscious anymore.
When I awoke I saw no one in the room at all. Maybe the lady gave up on me and left was what I was thinking when she walked in wearing a change of clothes, with her hair still wet from a recent shower. "I see you're awake." I stared at the lady I didn't know what to say. I didn't even know her name.
"M'am could I get your name?"
"I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier. My name is Nicola Morris."
"Morris? Do you know a Bobby Morris?"I asked.
"I have a brother named Bobby Morris." She said.
"That Mr. Morris fellow was Bobby Morris."I said.
"Well Morris is a common surname and Bobby is a common first name. I haven't seen my brother in forever ever since he adopted a girl. I doubt it would be him."
"M'am the Bobby Morris I know adopted, well more like took custody of a girl and then moved out of his old town." And then as if this were a movie Mr. Morris walked in with a much healthier looking Jane.
Nicola and Mr. Morris gave each other the once over and ran into each other's arms. Jane walked over to my side of the hospital bed and gave me a sincere smile. "I've missed you so much." she said
"You have no idea how much I feel the exact same way." I said happy to see my only friend looking healthy.
