It was about seven when I started running to Jane's house and it was getting really dark. Since I live in the country there was absolutely no street lights and the only way I got to Jane's house was staying close to the old beat up country road. I started to doubt my intuition to go to Jane's house. My thoughts came sprinting through my mind. I only met her today. What if she was just being friendly? What will she think when I arrive alone at her house because I got kicked out of mine? What will she do? Stop it I told myself, stop thinking those thoughts she will accept you, she likes you.
After walking for about ten minutes I got to Jane's house and was surprised that only one light was on in the house and their car was gone. I started to panic but then I calmed down and thought of the glimmering hope of the single light. As I got closer I was shocked to hear sobbing just like my own when my backpack had torn in half. I knocked and heard the sobbing stop for a moment and then I saw the unmistakable blue green eye of Jane in the peephole.
"Alex? What are you doing here? What's going on?"
" I'll explain, just please let me in its cold." Then she opened the door and let me in to her beautiful, large house. I was amazed and in shock Jane didn't seem like the kind to be this rich.
She took me up the stairs to her room and we sat on her bed. "Now explain why did you show up at my front door at seven at night?" She was gentle and soft spoken with her words and I felt like I could tell her all of my worries.
" My mom got mad at me when I asked for a new backpack and told me to sleep on the porch."
" A new backpack your old one ripped straight in half! And she can't do that that's child abuse!"
" Well everyone knows my mom and no one ever says a thing about it."
" You can stay here for as long as you want. My dad won't mind he is a lawyer and he had to run to his office for a moment since he forgot some paperwork."
" Are you sure?"
" Yes I am sure we have plenty of space it's just me and my dad you know. Now let me show you to your room."
The room was amazing. It felt so good to have my own room again! And the house was wonderful. The dinning room had the finest chairs and matching a table. The living room had the largest TV I had ever seen and had the most comfortable chairs and couches I had ever seen. After a tour of the other rooms we decided we needed to go to sleep, but soon after we laid down I heard the door open and her dad in a friendly tone yell "Jane!"
