As Jax lead me towards his pack dinning hall, anxiety was building with each step. Being around so many pack wolves was new to me. Would they hate me? Would they not feel the same as Jax, Cade, and Zane? Zane was just starting to like me, but still I was a rouge to them. I pulled my hand away from Jax, stopping our walk. I just stared at the massive building in front of me, it was a log cabin with enormous pillars standing on each side of ten foot double doors. Wolves were walking in, talking with each other. Glass windows lined the front to let in light, to brighten the inside. All different types of flowers surrounded the building in an organized way, a stone path leading up to the doors, a very welcoming invitation. But was my welcome going to be as warm as this sight?
"Oakley?" I couldn't take my eyes off the building, the wolves laughing and talking with each other. I've never seen wolves so happy, so carefree. My experience with wolves was always so cold and filled with hate. I was used to it, lived to expect it. Why did it bother me so much? Was it because it was Jax's pack? A pack that I was supposed to be Luna for? Was that the reason for all this fear and anxiety that I wasn't used to feeling? I wrapped my arms around myself as I watched the scene before me.
"What if they don't like me?" I asked him. They had every reason to hate me, I was a rouge on their territory after all. Jax cupped my face as he looked at me.
"They won't hate you." How could he be so sure?
"You don't know that." I shot back at him, the want to retreat and eat in his private kitchen grew with every second I was here. I looked behind me, ready to turn around.
"I do." He grabbed both of my shoulders to hold me in place like he knew exactly what I was planning.
"You saved them remember? You were the one who lead us to where the rouges were keeping them. You helped them escape. That goes a long way for us pack wolves, it's something we don't forget." I glanced behind him towards the dinning hall, then back to him. Maybe he was right, maybe I had gained their favor. Maybe I had seemed to change their minds about me without even knowing. He released my shoulders and held out his hand for me to take. I took once last look behind me, maybe this won't be so bad. I looked up at Jax who was smiling at me, I took a deep breath, pushed down all my fears and worries. I knew I had to do this, if I wanted things to change for rouges I had to take the first step. I ignored my anxiety about this whole situation and took his hand, resuming our walk to the dinning hall. Each step felt heavy but I let Jax lead me, as we got closer to the entrance, the doors pulled back to let everyone in. Two wolves stood at each side of the entrance guarding it. Once they noticed Jax they both stood up straight and greeted him.
"Alpha." They said in unison, smiling at him. I stayed slightly behind him, they looked at me and gave me a small smile as well. As we walked in, the noise died down as every wolf looked at Jax and greeted him. My chest tightened as this would determine how they felt about me. I stayed quiet as we walked in further, I could hear whispers all around as they noticed me. I couldn't make out anything they were saying because I was too nervous. I felt Jax's hand tighten around mine as we walked further in. I looked around taking in the whole area. It was even bigger on the inside, at least a couple dozens tables stretching at least about fifty feet each lined the sides of the building leaving a walkway towards the kitchen were there was a long counter stretching from one side of the building to the other. Wolves wearing what looked like cooking uniforms stood behind as they served food for everyone. Various plants littered the area giving it a nature feeling. The ceiling curved upwards as beams held lights to keep the place light up at night. The chatter seemed to revive as we got closer to the counter to grab our food.
"Welcome Alpha." A man wearing a white chiefs coat greeted Jax as we got to the counter. His eyes fell on me.
"Is this her Alpha?" The man asked as he looked me up and down. His blue eyes shining as he took me in.
