Before conflict there was peace, before death there was life, before hate there was love. Species of all kinds lived in harmony. Love influenced actions throughout the lands. Laughter filled the nights with twinkling hope and smiles. Death was natural not inflicted. Curiosity was normal until it wasn't. The increase of power was normal and balanced. But with peace balanced conflict. Power increased greed and want in unhealthy ways. Love challenged difference and special circumstances. Lands that once prospered with light was being influenced by darkness. When being different was welcomed with warmth soon became something to be frowned upon. Eventually death overpowered life. Blood flooded the lands where life blossomed. Screams and cries replaced laughter. The ones who never lost breath grew sad watching a once beautiful and peaceful land turn to a dark and conflicted land. Those who loved still grasping on to what was as those who lost it had lost hope and turned their backs believing that the mix of species ruined something that could never be restored. Locking themselves away waiting for the end to start anew once again. Peaceful species wanted life while the more violent ones wanted power and an unequal hierarchy. Hierarchy was never supposed to prosper, but the strong wanted to rule the weak. Two species just couldn't help themselves, influencing other species leading the way to a more corrupt unnatural system. Creating things like kings and slaves. Frowning upon the love between species. Separating the strong from the weak. The love between two beings born from different worlds caused so much pain and spilt so much blood all because their roots were against it. Because their species could not fathom how someone strong could be with someone weak. Their love grew but the world around them grew angry with their belief that the strong should stay with the strong and the weak should know their place. Their belief that love was too powerful to let roam free, that it should be chained and restricted.
As I read the introduction, all I could put to together was that people just couldn't trust what was natural. That power was more important than peace and love. But I just couldn't understand what every word meant, like it was a riddle waiting to be solved, that solving this could help point us in the right direction to what we were currently facing. I ran my hands over the words, beautifully written words turned dark as life unfolded in both good and bad ways.
"Woah." I breathed out as my eyes ran over the words. Jax just staring at the page trying his hardest to tear apart the script to get a better understanding of the first page.
"So this is where you guys went." Tyler pops is head in.
"What do you have there?" He asks as he walks up. I look up at him as he takes in the book in my hand. His face falling slightly as he read to the book cover.
"Such a sad story." I turn the book around in my hands examining it. A leather bound book about a few inches thick with old paper feeling like papyrus but still durable. The leather aged showing it's survived for too long. A thin piece of fabric wrapped around it to keep it closed, the letters engraved on the leather neatly.
"Is it true?" Jax asks looking toward Tyler as he plops down on a leather loveseat a few feet away. He leans back, throwing his feet on the ottoman, splaying his arms on the armrests.
"The former Alpha believed so, as well as his Luna." His eyes studying the various books displayed on the shelf across from him.
"It seems to be very old." He nods.
"Do you think it's true?" I ask pushing him to continue. Tyler drops his head on the back of the loveseat, looking up.
"I don't want to believe that what's written there actually happened."
"But?" I urge him to continue as I grab a seat next to him. He looks my way making eye contact with me. I search his eyes looking for hidden answers, but all I see is sadness and fear.
