"I've come to warn you, you're in danger." Her warning didn't surprise me, after I noticed my parents' scent on Mr. Reaper I had a feeling. She catches my reaction, surprising her.
"You already know? I shouldn't be surprised you picked up on it." She laughs.
"What does she mean, picked up on what?" Jax asks as he walks up to me, I had hoped to avoid this, to do what we needed to do and leave before my parents could catch up to us without having to tell Jax and the others. I guess that's not an option anymore especially if this Fae revealed herself just to warn me.
"I picked up their scent on Mr. Reaper right before we left." I admit to Jax, as I look down.
"Whose scent?" He urges me to continue, I look back to the Fae whose gaze has never left me, barely acknowledging the others.
"My parents, they are in the city, I'm pretty sure they were at the Gala at some point last night." It's quiet as he takes in the new information, the silence is deafening. I glance towards Jax, frozen in place, his eyes holding an emotion so intense my wolf whimpers.
"Were you planning on telling me?" His voice cold, distant. Keeping his gaze on the floor as his fists are balled so tight that they start to turn white. Did I want to tell him? No, should I have told him? Probably, but fighting them would just delay what we really needed to do. I know he wants to kill them, hell I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to kill them myself. But killing them does nothing to stop Hopper as he's a bigger threat and without the knowledge to completely eradicate the Wolfssegen for good, then what's the point when some other rouge would just step up.
"No." I breathed out. I can't look at him, part of me feels like I betrayed him but the other part felt like I was doing it to avoid unnecessary fighting and blood. Some things are just a bit more important than revenge killing, and finding the royals are our top priority. I doubt he would see it that way though, the rage he has for my parents is too great. Within seconds, Jax had me pinned against the fridge, causing it to rattle behind me from the motion, his hand roughly against my chest just barely avoiding my neck. His eyes black and filled with intense emotion. I hold his gaze, trying my hardest to stand my ground. All eyes are on us, no one dares to speak, well almost no one.
"I'd think very carefully about what you do next." The Fae warns him, her gaze glued on Jax, ready to kill. Her eyes no more grey but instead glowing green.
"Bud out, this doesn't involve you." Jax snaps never breaking eye contact with me.
"Jax, you may want to step away from her." Tyler pleads, both men staring at the Fae. Jax's hold only tightens on my chest, his claws protruding enough to draw blood. I bear the pain, wincing just barely but that's all it took for the Fae to take action. Her movements so fast, grabbing Jax's neck from the back and throwing him away from me. Putting her body in between Jax and I, Jax lands on his feet his eyes flashing from black to green. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding, my hand instinctively going up to my chest. The blood dripping lightly as I can already feel myself healing.
"She is my business. No one else matters." The Fae spits out, her body giving off a green glow, her threat a little too clear. A green similar to mine but a bit brighter. Jax straightens out, glaring at me completely ignoring the Fae.
"This isn't over." He growls as he walks off, leaving the four of us in the kitchen. There's a loud bang from where Jax stormed off, I flinch at the sound. The Fae turns around, as she looks down to my chest. She sighs as she notices that there's no more marks on me, her green color fades as she calms down. She just stares at me, as she runs a hand down the side of my face.
