I barely moved, my body would not let me. Jen had to scrub me down where I was knelt, I only moved to let her put on some fresh clothes and when they brought in a chair for me. I wanted to lay with him but I was worried that I'd hurt him. I was not sure if he was in pain but I did not want to risk it. It had been a whole day and he had not moved yet, I gripped his hand as I kept my eyes on him. Cade, Zane, and Tyler would pop in to check on the both of us but they never stayed long as they helped run the pack and get everyone back to their normal duties. I never spoke as they would talk to me, I had no words. I felt like I couldn't breathe, like I had no life without Jax. As much as he pissed me off, I just could not live without him. Tyler had informed me that he had requested a bigger bed so I could be more comfortable. I sat in the chair until I heard a knock on the sliding glass door. I made no effort to move.
"Luna, the bed has arrived, can we?" I did not answer.
"Come in." Tyler said, I had not even realized that he was here with us. I felt a hand on my shoulder, I moved my head slightly to let him know I was listening.
"Let them change out the bed so you can sit with him." Reluctantly I let go of Jax's hand as Tyler pulled me to my feet. I stepped back towards the glass door as I watched them work. Tyler wrapped his arm around my body pulling me close to him.
"He will pull through, he's strong." He reassured me, I knew that but I still could not function properly not until he opened his eyes. For a moment I broke away from Jax as they moved him and buried my head into his chest. I did not cry, I just waited for them to finish. Tyler wrapped his arms around me hugging me tightly.
"We are finished." I tore away from Tyler as I went back to Jax, the bed was significantly bigger. Large enough for at least two people to lay down comfortably. I climbed onto the bed, unsure where to sit. My whole body was stiff from sitting, I never closed my eyes. I could not let myself sleep as I was beating myself up for failing him. I sat there for a moment trying to figure out what to do.
"The doctor said you can lie next to him, he's not in any pain." It was like he was reading my mind, I was reluctant for a moment. I almost decided against it but my wolf pushed me to move, so I did. I put my head on his chest as I wrapped an arm across his chest. It felt good to lay down, my body was starting to relax. My body warmed at his touch, it just did not feel right. I was used to him wrapping his arms around me as we laid together, this just felt so one sided. My eyes started to close since I was now lying down but I fought against it.
"Oaks, you need to sleep. Let your body rest." Tyler insisted as he watched me, I kept my eyes forward. His steady heartbeat was the only thing I could focus on. It calmed my nerves, only slightly but it helped. Tyler sat in the chair across from the bed as I laid there, he had a book in his hands. The silence was comfortable as we both sat there, he was the only one who stayed the most out of everyone. I understood why no one else did though, someone had to continue running the pack. Tyler was a guest and Oliver was here to help out, they insisted on staying until Jax woke up. My eyes started to flutter close as I got comfortable laying on Jax.
A knock woke me up, my eyes opening up wide. Tyler sighed as he noticed me wake up to the sound.
"She was so close to sleeping." He turned his head to whomever was at the door.
"Sorry, I brought food for both of you." Cade said as he stepped into my view, I never looked at him just forward. He gave the food to Tyler as he looked at me, my appetite was gone. I could not eat, all I wanted was for Jax to open his eyes. I could not understand why he was not waking up. What kind of spell did that witch conjure? Fire alone should not have done this to him. He should have already fully recovered. Tyler lifted the food towards me, a way to ask if I wanted some. I stayed still, giving him my answer. He sighed deeply as he put the food down next to him on the side table.
