OTM
The aftermath of drinking always reminded me while I stayed away from alcohol.
My body had a two drink limit before I woke up feeling terrible, and I had about double that so I woke up to my head spinning.
Unfortunately, my alarm went off bright and early at 8:00am because Carter had a basketball game just like every weekend.
I pressed snooze so many times that by the time I actually got up, there was no way I was going to be on time. I jumped in the shower quickly and then threw on a grey cotton tracksuit because I didn't have the time or energy to pick out anything else.
I didn't even want to think about the night before. For me to agree to let Bey pick me up, I was clearly drunker than I thought.
Carter was with Bey which made my life a million times easier because I only had to worry about myself. That, and I wouldn't have to worry about Bey blowing my phone up rushing me.
I didn't have time to do anything else so I got in my car and rushed to meet them. My head was pounding so I wasn't going as fast as the night before.
By the time I got there, I didn't have a single text from Bey rushing me which was surprising considering the game was about to start. I didn't think about it too much and just counted my blessings, because today wasn't the day for her to be doing that.
The second I walked into the gym, my head started pounding even worse. Everything was so loud. The sounds of all the balls bouncing from the kids warming up and everybody speaking at once sounded ten times louder than they usually did.
I just went and sat down in the first open space on the bleachers I saw. I didn't have time to look out for Lala in the sea of people like I usually would.
Only a minute after I sat down somebody sat next to me, and I was hoping it was Lala, but it was just Bey. "Here." She handed me an iced coffee and a granola bar.
I didn't have too much pride to take it. Especially with how I was feeling. "...Thank you." It was hard to act annoyed with her like I usually did when I took a sip and it was my exact coffee order.
I side eyed her and saw her proudly smiling and staring at me. "It's good, huh?"
"Yeah. Don't push it, though." I wasn't about to kiss her ass.
She look completely unphased. "I know that means you love it, in your own little way, so good. How are you feeling?"
I sighed and took another sip of coffee before I spoke. "Like shit. The headache I have is on another level."
She laughed, "Yeah I'm not surprised with how drunk you were last night. You were trying to cuss me out and could barely even type."
"I'm sorry about that." The fact that I texted her all those things were embarrassing, and I couldn't deny that. "I read those texts this morning and I was kind of mortified."
"You know I don't mind any chance to talk to you, especially when you're not acting like you hate me. That was a great night for me, don't apologize."
I was just about to call her lame for classifying that as a great night, but I noticed Carter waving to me from the court.
I smiled and waved with as much energy as I could muster up. "Hi, baby." I was hoping even if he couldn't hear me he would at least be able to read my lips.
He mouthed a hi back to me before his coach brought his attention back to what they were doing because the game was about to start.
I sat back as the game started and Bey was barely silent for long enough to forget she was next to me before she broke the silence again. "Do you think you can take Carter after the game?"
